Say for example I have got the Encyclopedia Britannica and I find that an answer will be useful to the asker is it wrong to copy from it and paste it of course I will quote it as the source. You see many may not have access to the EB

No, there is nothing wrong with that. Just cite your sources as a courtesy to everyone including the source. It is usually better to paraphrase and put your own flavor in an answer.

There have been times when I have copied and pasted my own answers because it seems like the same old questions get asked daily.

Not wrong at all. Someone asked a question, I found the answer. If it was something I didn't know beforehand, I always cite my source.
