A job/work that they could earn wages to put a roof over their heads and food in the belly's. Are there any employers who provide a second chance for such people. People who repaid their dets. (sp?) to society? I personally have a family member who I see doing all he can to find work and no one wants to hire him. It's so easy to do the wrong thing when nothing pans out. Help these guys help themselves!

Yes...a difficult situation. I wish I had a great answer for you. Keep trying and never give up is a bit cliche...but it still rings true. Invest in the postive and yourself and in time it will all work out.

Yes, definitely...but the first few jobs are not going to be the
kinds that he wants necessarily. Just like betrayed trust, one
mis-step, in a marriage calls for a period of "proving" yourself,
the same applies to a job.

Anyone on probation for the first time is going to have to earn
his employer's trust on the front end, regardless of who the employer is. Then he can eventually work his way back into a good job he is really qualified and capable of doing.

Believe me, there are plenty of employers who want people to
work....but they want people who will be dependable. I had an
employer tell me recently that, when hiring, he placed more importance on applicants who exhibited a dependable, hard-working attitude than on GED, high school diplomas or college
degrees. If they have both assets fine, but the desire to work
comes first......and sometimes the work is not always that desirable. But it's there for the taking.

The jobs are not always there, even for people with clean records. If he has some skills which are worthwhile (building trades, mechanical repairs, etc), he will eventually find a job. It won't be glamorous or fun, but it will be work. If he was charged with a violent crime or theft; it will be very difficult to find a job.

Consult the probation office he reports to; they will know where he should look for a job. They would rather have him cleared from their case loads once his probation is served.

There are some industries that don't discriminate against the formerly incarcerated: construction, longshoreman work, sanitation and landscaping. Those businesses will hire anybody who can do the job, irregardless of their previous record.

Absolutely. Probation is nothing. I have known guys AWOL from the army to get jobs before. Its the hardened criminals that are released from prison that have trouble. But they all eventually do thanks to programs out there. Most are located in your local "work center". They help you with resumes and even job searching.
