If I get a ticket and plead guilty and pay the fine and I never get my car inspected doesn't double jeapardy apply because I have already been tried for the crime so even if I am stopped again I won't have to pay a fine because it would be the same offense.

Not having a valid inspection sticker on you car in most jurisdictions is a moving violation. If you get a ticket and plead guilty and pay the fine AND NEVER DRIVE YOU CAR AGAIN, then you don't need to worry about gettng another ticket.

But us for double jeopardy, every time you drive your car you are committing a separate offense. You are breaking the same law, but you are breaking it at a different time, so no double jeopardy doesn't apply.

The bottom line is you need to get your car inspected.

It would be the same crime, but commited at a different time, so Double Jeapordy doen't apply. If you were to rob a bank and be convicted of it, then be released and rob the same bank you can still be charged. Don't try to buck the system on this you will lose. Just go get the car inspected

Wow, your logic sounded reasonable when I first read it, but on further reflection, the logic is flawed.

If you continue to drive, you are actually re-committing the crime all over again.

It would be like rubbing a bank - serving the time - and when you get out, you would be free to rob another one because you already served your time for the same crime.

Nice try, though. Ever thought of becoming a lawyer?

No, no more than you can go back and rob the same store you've already been convicted of robbing once before. You drive without the proper inspection/registration another time and it's a whole new offense.

No, it does not work that way. If you commit a crime once you can not be tried for the same crime again. If you go out the next day and do the same thing again technically you have commited a new crime. You can not be tried for the old crime you can for the new.

No, you can't. Double Jeopardy only applies to situations where you are found not guilty of a criminal offense. A traffic offense is not the same as a criminal offense.

Double Jeopardy only applies to felonies, so unless they are giving you a felony ticket which I seriously doubt then there is nothing you can do. You can and will continue to get tickets until you get your car inspected.

you weren't tried for a crime...you paid a ticket. There is no felony involved or a jury to hear your case...just the judge...
Double jeopardy is not attached to traffic tickets.

yes, you have to get your car inspected. it only applies for that date. so if they pulled you over the next day they could write you up again.
