I moved out of my apartment in December, and now my former landlord is trying to get me to pay $1500 for new carpet, new paint, and a bunch of other things that really didn't need to be done or that weren't damaged by my fiance and I. She sent the bill to a creditor, so now I have them breathing down my neck too. In Wisconsin, I thought legally the landlord needed to do a walk-through with the tenant before the tenant moves out completely. We were not given any walk-through and that seems quite fishy.

thats right DCA could be a miracle cure for certain types of deadly cancer but you and I can't get it. For one thing it can't be patented so no drug company wants to manufacture it.
The government won't let even terminal patients have it and it still has about 2 yrs of clinical trials. Why can't the government consider these terminally ill people as the clinical trials?

If I had cancer, I`ve got to tell you, I`m not waiting the two years for the human trial. If this has killed these things, lung, and breast, and, what was the other, brain cancer, if it`s killed these things in test tubes and in lab rats, what`s going to stop somebody who has nothing left to lose from going and finding some of this stuff and taking it? Well, since DCA has no patent, that means it can be made generically from day one. No exclusivity equals no value. You know, I heard that today, and I thought, you know, once in a while, maybe capitalism needs to be reminded of the value of human life.

Suppose you're an Afghan farmer. Your name is similar to but not identical to that of someone on a Terrorist Watch List. A nasty neighbor turns you in for the reward money.

The US has you in custody for five years now. You protest your innocence and demand a trial. But they do nothing. They let you rot.

THIS IS A TRUE STORY. There are more.

Liberals in America call for Due Process for ALL-- even terror suspects/ For thuis thy are accused of being pro-terrorist by right-wing oafs and clods.

I say, TRY THEM OR RELEASE THEM! PROVE they're guilty, don't assume it beforehand. Any other way is unworthy of America. (As are right-wing sphincters.)

My husband was injured as a direct result of the restaurant's negligence. The injuries are minor - but he did have to go to the ER and he is in a lot of pain (glass in his eye...it's a long story). I am missing work, and he has a bunch of follow up appointments to make now to make sure he has no long term damage to his eyes.

What's my next course of action?

I work for a multinational corporation that is sending me to Nashville next Tuesday for a seminar. The hotel that I am staying in has very strict smoking policies. (Just to give you the background)

I admit, I use to smoke…but, I have had a cigarette in over 5 weeks 

Well our secretary that made the arrangements took it upon herself to put me in a smoking room. And I quote, "I went ahead and put you in a smoking room. I know that you haven't smoked in a while, but if you decide to start up again we don't want to pay the $250 fee".

So, in addition to ignoring the fact that I no longer smoke, I am basically being told that at 33 years old, I do not have enough self control to not smoke in a room where smoking is prohibited.

They do not put other nonsmokers in smoking rooms. And, quite honestly, I am not sure how I am going to actually make it there without smoking in the company car…I should have asked her that one!

I am about to go to HR about this. As I stated, I DO NOT smoke…I don't care what I USE to do. I find the smell of smoke very offensive (like they say the worst nonsmoker is an X smoker…so true). I find it discriminatory that they don't place ALL employees in a smoking room for any one of them could smoke.

I am the deputy editor of a magazine and I am under stress because the editor, who got the job by default, is totally incompetent. She doesn't listen to anyone else, has no opinion on anything and is utterly disorganized, refusing to adhere to our plans, despite orders from the bosses. She's been doing this for over 2 years now. Our publisher, who is aware of her behaviour, apparently asked a colleague what they thought about her the other day and this person told him straight. However, she is never dealt with properly and I don't think the bosses want to face up to the fact that she can't do the job. I want to make an official complaint as I am close to quitting, but should I email, write a letter or do it face to face to be taken most seriously? Also, should I address the publisher (who manages the magazine department) or the managing directors of the company?

Some of the mobile telecommuncation companies in Nigeria have been short-changing their subscribers with poor services and charging for incomplete calls. Sometimes, you do not hear what the other person is saying, yet you are charged for the call. So many people are affected and I would want know if a class action is possible in Nigeria and exactly what obtains in other countries with mobile telecommunications.

I am currently in the process of moving. I informed my current landlord that I was going to be out by the 1st of March. They told me that I could just use my security deposit as payment for Feb. rent, my mistake was not getting it in writing. They now want their rent, I have got most of my personal belongings in a storage unit, however to avoid conflict with him I have been getting what was left out in the morning before going to work. He can be very nasty. I went there this morning and they locks have been changed, I called his wife and basically they are holding my stuff ransom and said that since the electric was taken out of my name they felt they had the right to do this. I did request the change of the electric, but they changed it earlier then I rquested, the phone is still on in my name and I have some personal belongings in the home. I am afraid that if I push they will just throw my stuff in the trash and then I am screwed. They did not get an eviction or a notice to vacate

I have been hearing it as the "cervical cancer" vaccine, and while several strains of HPV are the majority cause of the cancer, it doesn't deal with all the cancer. It has only been tested for 5 years or so, and there is no proof that it will continue to protect the women later in life. What about the vast amount of men infected? How much progress can be made with still half the population infected? Merk (the sole patent rights owner) has also been on a widespread lobbying campaign to get governors (about 20 something are considering to) to issue executive orders to mandate this. However, in the series of 3 shot treatments, it cost $360 per treatment. Some people say it will promote promiscuity as young girls will think they are protected from STDs, and that it doesn't promote abstinence. However it has been approved for girls as old as 26, so what is the hurry? Why mandate it, rather than let the parents choose, and provide financial assistance who do chose, but can't afford?

Due to anti-terrorist laws lately, they are restricting more & more things we can do, or send, in mail, on planes etc.

I heard in Canada, they confisticated all the guns & weaponry off the civilian populace.

How many know, just like I do, that if or when that happens over here in the usa, only the CRIMINALS & cops will have weapons?

It has been proven, they never catch all the bad guys, & having a gun can deter some would be criminals... And they will have to catch the criminals before THEY will give up their weapons. Criminals will build their own or get it off the black market if they have to. Anyone else think this could be a problem for honest & law abiding citizens?

I was on the phone late last night, after midnight, chatting about the possibility of switching from AOL to BT internet because I want something with a good reputation for its wireless networking capabilities. When I came off the phone a "marketing message" had been left on my BT callminder answering machine quoting the prices for BT Broadband and making specific reference to it's wireless deals.

What is BT doing sending out marketing messages at half past midnight? And is this just a coincidence or is big brother watching me?!!

If I make out that I am blind and looking for work, could I force the council to allow me to have a job cleaning the female changing rooms at the local swimming pool? Since I'd be a valuable disabled member of staff for the quotas, would they be willing to ignore the exception to the Sex Discrimination Act which allows gender specific selection for such positions on account that I couldn't see any juicy bits?

I reckon with the help of a white stick and some sunglasses, I could pull off a pretty convincing blind man act for a couple of weeks of free live strip shows before I get rumbled.
