Yes you can as long as he has been paid. Also, if you move on to another lawyer, that lawyer will take care of that for you. Its a free country, you have the right to change your mind about who you want for a lawyer. No different then changing doctors.

Yes by law he has to give you the records BUT depending on the type of case and what he has already filed, sometimes you are required to allow him a % in the case settlement.

i recently did this, had no problems at all and the former lawyer gave me no static.
