I want to change my first name from Corie to Corianne. It's more feminine and professional. But my parents think if I change my name it will affect my credit, college transcripts, etc. They said it would be hard in the future to get a job or a loan because changing your first name makes you look suspicious. Is this true? I really want to go through with it but not if it's going to be a huge hassle.

My fiance recently lost his pharmacy license due to substance abuse. I was unaware of his problem but we are working on helping him. He is going to Narcotics Anonymous meetings and outpatient rehab. He is almost fully recovered and wants to get back into the business as soon as he gets his license back. Under Ohio law he will be able to get his license back in a year. However, we are not sure if he can get it back a year from the date of suspension (January 2006) or a year from the date of his hearing before the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy which isn't until August. Would anyone know how soon he can get it back? The loss of income is really hurting us financially and he needs to get back to work as soon as possible.

For example, what if someone publically stated their intent to kill at some point in the future, without specifying when, where, or whom?

This would surely constitute grounds to search one's home, but what if no means to carry out the threat were found? What charges could be filed? Is it specific enough to be prosecuted for making "terroristic threats"? How vague is too vague?

What could the consequences be after the individual served their (likely relatively brief) sentence?

What if the threat were for a lesser crime, such as vandalism?

Could the police do anything except watch them like a hawk? With limited resources, such surveilance would seem destined to be short-lived.

Anyway, an interesting hypothetical to play with. Anyone know the answer?

NOTE: I have NO intention of making any such threat, nor do I know anyone who would. I am merely interested in the legal implications of such a situation, which, incidentally, would seem rather unlikely to arise in real life.

From a business in Hollywood, around midnight. Does it really cost almost $300? It did me! I get the lesson! And maybe a new get-rich-quick business opportunity!

I have been renting my home for over 2 years. The homeowners divorced and then went thru a bankruptcy. I recently found out that the home is being forclosed on and really dont want to leave as this is the home I always dreamed of owning one day. I am unsure of what step to take next. I know the bank that the mortgage is though but dont belive they will give me any information. Any ideas of who to call to find out if I can purchase the home? Unfortunately I also have a bankruptcy on my record too so Im not sure if its even a possibility. Also curious if Im going to get kicked out of here and if I should still be paying the homeowner rent. Any advice would be appreciated.

California allows people with enough money to by new Hybrid cars and use the diamond lane for commuting. How can the most liberal state in the union do this to the poor. California now supports a two class commuter system, the rich whom get to use the commuter lane with only one occupent in the car and the poor whom do not.

It has been determined that most sex offenders, especially those who commit crimes against children, cannot be rehabilitated. Prime examples are Megan Kanka and Jessica Lunsford, whose perpetrators had previously spent time in prison for their crimes against children.

My daughter lives in texas with her dad. I live in Indiana with my boys. I went to texas a few weeks ago and couldn't pick her up as scheduled for the summer vacation. I had already purchased plane tickets, asked for certain days on, and so on. Before I left, I was served with court papers about me being sued for full custody and a restraning order. I went balistic. I called to texas and spoke to everyone i could at the court house and went through a lengthy phone interview for tx rural legal aid. I went with some hope, but much to my dismay, I return without my daughter. I am a single working mother, trying my best. Why he would do something like that just because he doesn't like me, is uncomprehensional. My boys were severely dissappointed as was I. I can'y afford a high priced attorney. I wrote up a per say motion for continuance and was grated one month. My court date is July 6th. There is no possible way I can make it, and even if I could I have no representation.

The Human Rights Act has eroded the common law which protected us all, destroying a delicate balance of law developed through centuries of compromise between all strata of society.

Those who do not keep the peace put themselves outside the King's grace and should not be allowed to benefit from the protection of those laws until such time as justice has been fully done.

when I called police he left the scene and later he was arrested. My dad had to go to police station and an police officer interviewed my dad and the guy. The officer told us that the guy has been charged with assault, but the guy is making an allegation on me that I threatened him to kill, and he had to ran away... When I heard a phone call from my mom that the guy is beating dad, I ran to the place and when I saw blood on my dad face I got so upset I tried to go after him but mom and my brother was stopping me doing that only I swore to him using F..words. What should I do with this allegation which I don't remember saying that? (somebody is beating my dad and there is blood on my dad face, It hurted me a lot. No other son would stand there say nothing or do nothing)
ps: I just found out that the guy has hired a defence lawyer.
I or my family can't not forgive what he done to my dad. I can't not let him get away this without any punishment. What should I do?
