Our city is attempting to propose regulations against decorating our loved ones graves. Any info on how to fight the upcoming proposal will be greatly appreciated. We live in Texas.

listen, you do what you feel is right.

You organize a couple of people that feel the same.
Create a clear objective.

Begin to bring awarness to your cause, hand out leaflets at the wall mart.

Organize a mailing campain and phone campain to city council.

Get the media to write about your cause.

You can take down anyone if the cause is just. just never lose sight.

Don't get a lawyer get a petition. Go door to door, get your friends to do the same, and show up at the city hall meeting when the proposed law is going to be discussed. Before you go call the city clerk and ask for a place on the agenda to speek to the law. Some cities manage to quell public input because you aren't on the agenda (not all do that). Show up, present your petition, be courteous, and it will go a lot further then be obstinent or abrasive.

Oh, and call your city council member or one you feel you can connect too and ask for a one on one meeting. Find out why they want the law and then combat those reasons. Let them know you hope they won't do it.

You convince enough city council members to support your proposal or anti-proposal.

Otherwise, you are out of luck unless the proposal is unconstitutional (unlikely).

You have to get enough people to agree with you to cause council members to support your opinion.

i would agree with the above answer, to get a lawyer, but i don't know if u can fight their proposal unless u were to assemble as a group with whom u share similar concerns with. if ur the only person opposed to it, its not gonna work!!
