Well, in California, you can pretty much file a lawsuit (Sue) anyone for any reason. Whether or not you'll be allowed to have it tried in a court, or win the case is another question entirely.

Here in CA, you've probably got a decent chance, using umm, arguments about mental grief, medical costs, etc.

Most states have enacted legislation that makes knowingly infecting someone with aids a crime. If he knew he had aids (the only deadly STD I'm aware of), he is guilty of a crime.

And, you can also sue him for all kinds of things, not the least of which is the medical expense.

You better believe it! He violated your trust and brought you an STD as well? You have him by the short hairs. You need to talk to an attorney pronto! Call up a divorce attorney and give them your information. Most don't charge for initial consultation. Your case is a shoo in from what you are saying. Good luck and hope it wasn't AIDS. Let me know if I can look something up for you.

There are so many deadly STDs in California. How would you know which was which? I know--give it back to him. Maybe it has mutated to something worse by now.

You can sue anybody for anything, if you want. That doesn't mean you're going to win.
