My sister and I were still up at 3am. We were watching a scary movie. A woman came onto my porch and knocked. I live on a terrace. A man was at the top of the stairs going up the terrace onto my front yard. The woman walked on the sidewalk that is in my yard up to my front porch. There is about 10 stairs to climb to my porch. She knocked and told me that she and her husband got off work at midnight. Their truck's gas gage doesn't work and they ran out of gas. She told me if I could only spare a few bucks so they can get home she would be so grateful. She offered to straighten my porch for the money. Her husband stayed at the top of the steps all that time. I asked her if she could call someone(family, friends ect.) She just moved to this state and everyone she knows is out of state. I went ahead and gave her enough for 2 gallons of gas and sent them off. They didn't look like drug people or that they had been drinking. What would you do and do you think they scammed me?

My boyfriend is a chef and he works around 40 hours a week 50 including travel.
Sometimes he doesnt finish work til 12am and has to be back in work at 7am. But by the time he gets home and has a shower its 1.30am when he gets to bed.
Isn't there a law were you have to have a certain amount of rest between working days?
Also he doesn't get a break unless hes working an 11 hr shift. He works like 7am til 5pm No Break but when he works 12pm til 11pm he gets 1hr break.
Can they get away with this?

According to Arkansas law, at what age are young children permitted to paint a picture of the Cheshire cat? How about if they are just doing a paint by number?

I own a small business, and I have been placing flyers w/ business cards in mailboxes. A friend of mine believes that this is illegal, per US Postal Service guidelines. She uses the example of restaurant menus, gas/oil delivery receipts, etc which are all placed on or around mailboxes (or on a front door handle), but not in a mailbox. I would like to avoid any issues!

My old dentist performed three root canals on me in the past year, each of them taking 15 min (not counting the post and crown). He did an awful job, and now my new dentist had to send me to an endodontist, and two of the three root canals are going to need surgery on them to flush out whatever is bad in there, and put new filling in. This is going to cost me $1000 per tooth! Is there any possibility I could sue my old dentist and get the money to cover not only what i spent on the root canals in the first place, but also any costs incurred as a result of poor workmanship? My current dentist said he would back me in whatever I decided to do, whether it be report him or file a lawsuit.
