I am not a teen, nor do I own a bar, so don't start thinking I want this changed for my own benefit. I am a 32 yo mom of 3 boys.
If you are an adult at 18, required to pay taxes, can vote, smoke cigarettes, join the military and die for this country, along with all the other privileges, rights and duties associated with becoming an adult, why can't you go out after a work day and have a beer or two legally, without risk of jail or fines?? Unite 18-20 year olds, change this law. I'll vote for it.

I got divorced last year. Durring the divorce, my ex husband signed over ALL rights to our 5 year old daughter, to me. He pays no support and does not see her. I have full cusdody. Since then, I have gotten remarried and my new husband and I want to look into having him adopt my daughter. Here are my questions.

1.) How do I go about this? & who do I talk to? (we live in Indiana)
2.) Do we need a lawyer?
3.) My daughter still has my ex husbands last name (I never got around to changing it) so do I need to change her name back to my madien name before we start the adoption process?
4.) Will my ex husband need to sign anything or will they notify him of anything?

Please only people who know what they are talking about. Thank you again for all the help!! :)

I want to help out, and know that this can make a lot of money for kids, old people, and animals. I dont personally have a problem with it, but others might. I think the good must outweigh the bad, what are your thoughts?

since there is no actual blood only a piece of paper that says adoption by the parents not by the uncle.

I am a 16 year old resident of Long Island, New York. I live at home with just me and my mother, my father and my mother were never married and I have never lived with him. My father lives about an hour 1/2 away from me. He rarely even comes to vist me, about 2-3 a year at most for a day or two each time. But now he has told me that I am to stay with him for the summer. I do not want to and am not going to, so he told me that he has the right to force me to stay with him and that if I don't he will send me to a child home. The way I understand is that if my mother says I can stay with her then no matter what I don't have to go with him if I don't want to. What can I do?

My previous employer paid two sums of money into my account, one was my final paycheque and the other was an amount for £2654. This was a few days before the end of the month , about 10 days later I got a call from their accountant saying they had overpaid that amount into my account and could i return it asap. I explained to her that I would check my account, i knew i had lots of payments coming out from my account that month as well as a mortgage so there might not be the whole amount remaining.

After checking i saw that i could send back £1654 straight away and the remaining £1000 would have to be spread over a period of time. I sent an email to the accountant saying I intend to pay the money back and could do so in monthly payments that i could afford. Yesterday I got a call from the accountant stating that this wasnt acceptable and that they would seek further action unless i paid it back straight away. Can they take me to court? In the eyes of the law am i in the wrong?

I just got assulted by a guy who I know little bit. He came saying he wanted to talk, but he hit me twice on the face. I did call police but did not want him arrested or anything because he was friend of friend of mine.
I do not want to do anything legally, but I want to make sure I get my medical bills covered, because I have a broken tooth. Can I sue this person when I told police that I did not want to press charge on him?
