I am not a teen, nor do I own a bar, so don't start thinking I want this changed for my own benefit. I am a 32 yo mom of 3 boys.
If you are an adult at 18, required to pay taxes, can vote, smoke cigarettes, join the military and die for this country, along with all the other privileges, rights and duties associated with becoming an adult, why can't you go out after a work day and have a beer or two legally, without risk of jail or fines?? Unite 18-20 year olds, change this law. I'll vote for it.

I am also for lowering the drinking age back to 18. I am 31, mother of 2 girls, and a health teacher. I would definitely vote it back in. Once again, the federal government gives out millions to states who pass certain laws, this is one of them. And if everyone did their research before they answered this question, they would know that it is not the 18-20 age group that ranks highest in drunk driving. Change the drunk driving law, first offense:attempted murder. In my opinion that is exactly what they are doing. But punishing adults? Give me a break. I know repsonsible 18 year olds, and yet my dad who is 57 is a drunk and always has been. Age has nothing to do with it. If 18 is a legal adult, then it should be the age for everything!!!

When I first started drinking (legally at that), I was drinking on the military bases. We could drink at 18 on base (still 21 on the outside). Granted it was just beer or wine coolers, none of the hard liquors. I personally feel we had less to worry about then since we were drinking in a controlled environment. When the drinking age was raised on base to 21, we started noticing an increase in "underage drinking violations" since they were now drinking off base and getting into trouble. Not to mention that by making drinking taboo, they added more enticement to the idea of drinking.
I also agree that at 18, people are defending this country, voting, etc. It's time to let the adults be adults and not treat them as infantile adults! I'm also well past the age where this would affect me but I would also support the age change.

Drinking age is a state law, and can vary from state to state. If you remember, louisiana was the last state to change from 18 to 21. Why did they finally change? The federal government cut federal funding to highways in the states that had drinking ages under 21. Do you remember how bad the highways were in louisiana a long time ago? They are in decent shape now.
(this was true some years back, things may have changed since then)

Because too many 18 - 20 year olds had proven that they could not handle drinking. They got completely wasted at bars and parties then jumped into their cars and murdered innocent people who were NOT driving drunk, they just happened to be going through a green light when the cold-blooded drunk teen ran the red one.

undesirable - decrease coaching stages, decrease attendance expenses at college, greater fee of eating and using in young infants, greater teen deaths by using eating and using, greater teen pregnancies, greater unfold of STD's, greater bills of rape/date rape, greater teen deaths by using alcohol poisoning, greater assaults in youth, greater fee of alcohol dependence in youth, etc. good - no longer a lot good, the backside it may pass is eighteen. If sixteen 12 months olds have been waiting to pass right into a bar, they could even lie approximately their age and sleep with someone who's over the age of 18 and have them charged with statutory rape, sixteen and eating isn't a good concept, suited now at sixteen particularly everyone seems to be already eating, even even though it is complicated for them to get the alcohol. If it replaced to sixteen because of the fact the criminal age, then they could be a lot greater possibly to purchase for their acquaintances that are 15, 14 even perhaps 13 and which would be a great subject. like I mentioned, 18 could desire to be the backside.
