Here is the real question you should be asking:

Why do we kill people who kill people to show that killing people is wrong?

Deduct my answer to your question from my question.

The only problem with capital punishment is that it is not fairly applied, and too much in the prosecutor's discretion to seek it.

People of color get the death penalty more often than white people. And society hardly ever executes a woman, even if she kills six people.

Too many emotional factors obscure the use of the D.P. If we cannot be rigorously fair about it, we have to dump it.

Besides people are so afraid of dying, that merely threating the D.P. might get someone who has a decent defense, to plead guilty and take Life in Prison, when he might have gotten off completely. That's an unjust result.

I've been against it all my life until lately. I just felt that man doesn't have the right to take another life, but some of the sick, sick things man has been doing, has caused me to reconsider. The pedophile; so far their isn't any hope of this sicko changing his ways, and if he is convicted of that sort of crime, and commits murder, pull the switch!! And now, I'm considering capital punishment would be the problem solver for other crimes. Lets speed up the process in getting them their!!

As a woman, wife and mom...I am against capital punishment.IMO, we as a society do not have a right to hurt, kill, etc regardless of what someone else does!Just becuase someone does something to another person, doesn't give us a society to do the same tihng to another!!

Yes particularly in certain cases like mass murders or child murderers. Others should be given life with no parole and no benefits in prison and the process for death row should not take more than 5 years.

Ok I think that capital punishment is the right thing. If someone killed someone then I think that they should die to.Maybe if more people got the death sentence over killing, and rape than maybe it would stop all that.

One of the Ten Commandments says, "Thou Shalt Not Kill". It didn't say that it was okay when the State does it. Furthermore the threat of the death penalty has not deterred people from committing crimes which carry the death penalty.

Wrong. Killing is wrong no matter what. Life in prison, no chance of parole, ever- that's sufficient punishment.
