My daughter lives in texas with her dad. I live in Indiana with my boys. I went to texas a few weeks ago and couldn't pick her up as scheduled for the summer vacation. I had already purchased plane tickets, asked for certain days on, and so on. Before I left, I was served with court papers about me being sued for full custody and a restraning order. I went balistic. I called to texas and spoke to everyone i could at the court house and went through a lengthy phone interview for tx rural legal aid. I went with some hope, but much to my dismay, I return without my daughter. I am a single working mother, trying my best. Why he would do something like that just because he doesn't like me, is uncomprehensional. My boys were severely dissappointed as was I. I can'y afford a high priced attorney. I wrote up a per say motion for continuance and was grated one month. My court date is July 6th. There is no possible way I can make it, and even if I could I have no representation.

Any chance your daughter is in West Texas? Go to this website (anyway). Use the contact information on the HomePage. Do nothing short of asking how to find help in the county where your daughter resides, if she is not in West Texas. On the left of the Page, click the "Branch Offices" Option to see if your daughter's county is listed. If so, contact that branch office.

On the bottom of the HomePage, there is a "State Programs..." link. You may find options there -- five links are offered per page; be sure to click of "next page" to get more options.

IF YOU CAN TELL US THE COUNTY SHE IS IN, IT WILL BE HELPFUL TO FIND SOME ONE/GROUP CLOSER TO HER. Please & thank you. (Please e-mail me with the county, otherwise I have to stop the search here. I'm spending too much time looking - and I don't know what county she's in.)

This is, I'm afraid, the only thing I can provide you with. A link to the State Bar of Texas with Pro Bono attorney information. I can't imagine how devastating a time you are going through.

Might I also suggest Alternative Despute Resolution attorneys/mediators. I just pray that your ex is not more cumbersome than he's been and ADR may work out.

I wish you good luck.
