Shamus MacIntosh , a Scottish policeman was assigned as security to a recent soccer match pitting 2 teams whose particular fans and countrymen were known for hostilities . He kissed his wife good-bye and told her he'd be home after the game (usually about 3 hours later) . Well his favorite team won so he called his wife to tell her, and just as he and his fans and countrymen were celebrating , a riot broke out . Yeah , it seems that the losing team's countrymen didn't like that and some others were there only to start trouble . Hours later the fighting was still hot and heavy , and when his wife called him angry as bee , he had to explain that things had changed and therefore he could not leave until things settled down . She didn't want her husband to get hurt , but it was his duty and responsibility to finish his security detail completely .
Reluctantly , his wife agreed because she loves him .
Hmmmm , she loves him and understood !!

How do countries (other than the US) keep track of their citizens? Is it like a social security number?

They are anti government...Aren't we trying to stabilize the Iraqi government? Does this make as much sense as hiring the Hell's Angels to do security for the Rolling Stones at Red Rocks? For those who don't know...red rocks didn't turn out so good...

I have lived with my father for the past 6 years, to help him with everything since my mother died. I also run his business which is left to me to keep running after he passes. My brothers and sisters don't like this. Recently, my father took a turn for the worse and is now in the hospital without much time left. My "family" has fought everything I'm trying to do to help him. One of my brothers is a licensed, bonded locksmith. He and the rest of them (4 others) went to our home, changed the locks, added dead bolts, and ransacked all of our rooms. especially mine. My kids and I were locked out for 3 days before I called the Sherriff. They wont arrest any of them. Say's it's a civil matter.??? None of them had permission to be there at all. I had certain orders from my father on what to do if he passed or became hospitalized and I couldn't even do that for him. My father still doesn't even know what my locksmith brother did to his home. I need to fight back. How can I do it? help!

I was parked in a no park zone and expect a ticket for that, however, the sheriff "accident investigator" keeps calling me for information and it sounds to me like they want to make a case against me out of this accident from around the beginning of the 07 year. I slid off the road and hit ice, dented the front of my car and busting the headlight + fixture. At first, the sheriff wanted to meet me to fill out an accident report, but I told him I have the forms from online as well as the mailing address so I would take care of it myself. That prompted him to come forward and basically tell me he doesn't believe me because the car is not rusted and coroded where the damage is. Also, while we were on the phone, he told me he thought I was lying when I asked him. That upsets me but oh well.

Can I get in legal trouble for an accident from 6-7 months ago that only involved my car?

Unable to contact " Robert Half International "of careerbuilder.com so I can obtain a prior written authorization
to include his article on "Four co-workers you should befriend"
in this month's photo album I will donate to a Senior Center.
careerbuilder.com 24/7 'contact staff' couldn't help me. What
do I do? I really would like to include the article in this month's
photo album but at the end of the article it says"Copyright careerbulder.com 2007. All rights reserved. The information
contained in this article may not be published, broadcast or
otherwise distributed without the prior written authority."
I also entered CNN.com/living but to no avail. What happens
if I go ahead and include the article in the photo album I donate
to a Senior Center, considering I have really tried to obtain
what the company asks?

Currently the fire departments are run by the government and funded by tax dollars. This is what many conservatives denounce as "socialized" (the same system as our police and military, incidentally).

So, given that you dislike this system, do you all favor elimating our public fire protection?

Liberals walk like, talk like, act like, respond like and quack like socialists, BUT can't say the "S" word.

Is it because there is too much negativity associated with communism and socialism, to use these words? Most liberals will call you a facist or other name (which is really what they think about all capitalists) in retaliation but isn't "socialism" an appropriate word?

Even the French democrats call their party, "the socialist" party, why can't our liberals be honest and change their party name to the "socialist party"?

So someone said that the people in Iraq were fighting so I could have my freedom of speech to say what I wanted to on this board.

Considering we've had this freedom since 1776 and the only time the freedom to speak was ever under threat was during World War II when the Nazi regime looked to world domination..

Isn't the conservative line of 'they're in Iraq fighting for us" a bunch of baloney?

The reality is..the fighting in Iraq does not benefit the U.S. one bit.

America will always be a free nation. Going to Iraq, or Vietnam...did more to damage our freedom because it caused Americans to be intolerant of other opinions.

No. I do not believe the soldiers in Iraq are fighting for my freedom. An argument could be made on whether they're fighting for Iraqi freedom. But not American freedom. That was never in danger of being lost.

When America is under threat of invasion or attack..then they will be defending my freedom.

...a categorical, stereotyped, incendiary question like:
"Why is it that liberals are always either criticizing or asking for something?"

...and then report people for responding in a severe, sarcastic, or silly way?

Do you think that this is proof of how conservatives like to punish and/or censor others?

From Yahoo News: " Sunni bloc quits as 73 killed in bombings"

Sounds like more bad news, right? Well, they got the 73 dead in bombing correct, however the Sunni Bloc has not quit, also from the article:

"Issawi said Deputy Prime Minister Salam al-Zobaie and five ministers would resign on Wednesday.

The Sunni Front's 44 members will remain in the 275-seat parliament. Its withdrawal will have little practical effect on the 15-month-old government, which is virtually paralyzed by infighting but needs only a simple majority to keep functioning."

Roughly 10% of the Sunni Bloc resigned, not the entire Sunni Bloc. Why does the media portray stories like this and bury the details in the article (which they know idiots are not going to read)?

My fiancé is in the US Navy. He will be wearing his dress blues for our wedding. I wanted our colors to be pink and navy (because of his dress blues), but he told me that the dress blues are actually black. I know that a majority or guys are not good with colors. Are their dress blues actually blue, or are they really black???? Thanks
