They are anti government...Aren't we trying to stabilize the Iraqi government? Does this make as much sense as hiring the Hell's Angels to do security for the Rolling Stones at Red Rocks? For those who don't know...red rocks didn't turn out so good...

Well the US is just arming their future enemies. Thats all.
They are preparing the excuses for remaining in Iraq
indefinately. Its like an investment in the US warring
future.

Puzzling, isn’t it? I guess we’re arming Sunnis because Iraq is a mess, we’re desperate and we don’t know what else to do. The calculation is probably that ridding Iraq of the Al Qaeda fighters is more important than insuring stability and good relations between Sunnis and Shiias.

General Lynch quoted Sunni Iraqis as saying, “We hate you because you are occupiers but we hate Al Qaeda worse, and we hate the Persians [i.e., Shiite Iraqis] even more.”

Good question. The fact that we're doing this just goes to show that Iraq is in the middle of a Civil War. Despite all the US support that the Sunnis are getting, a contingent of Sunnis just withdrew from Iraq's Parliament today.

"BAGHDAD (Reuters) - The main Sunni Arab political bloc quit the Iraqi government on Wednesday in a blow to Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki's shaky coalition as suicide bombers killed more than 70 people in three attacks across Baghdad.

The resignation move pushed the government into a new crisis undermining its efforts to reconcile Iraqis and end sectarian strife." http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070801/ts_nm/iraq_dc;_ylt=AgmGvvF.lHVeKSxjYzlMzMCs0NUE

Actually, hiring the Hell's Angels probably makes more sense!

This is an example of Bush's brilliant leadership. Given that the Middle East is a tinderbox on the verge of exploding, he's "helping the situation" by trying to pour gasoline on everything to stabilize it in case of a spark.

It was Altamont, not Red Rocks. We are arming the enemy of the government we helped prop up. Who in the hell approved this plan? This type of crap is why we could never win any war with these clowns in charge.
Prediction: Gen Petraeus report in September will say that "considerable progress is being made." Just a hunch.

The Sunni's are just the kind of puppet government that the extremist leaders of the USA prefer. They would happily brutalize the long suffering people of Iraq into submission, while their oil was pumped out to profit both our and their corrupt leaders. A new Saddam would be best with a different name, and who is in cahoots with fascist corporate America.

Because Iran is predominately Shia. Also, it helps to keep the region destabilized, which, obviously, is Bush's goal.
