Slavery, in it's biblical form is about bad debts. You give an *interest free* loan, they default, you have lost out, and they're your slave. You let them go every seven years, and you sure as heck don't get to keep their children after. Further the bible says umpteen times not to do x, y or z to because you - read the israeli people, or the church(the new israel, it's spiritual inheritors) - were once slaves in Egypt. In the new testament it's true Paul never says a Christain can't holds slaves, but he does remind every slave owner that both master and slave have the same master in heaven, and also declares that he would prefer a slave be freed and be treated like a brother, if people either owe him or Christ for their salvation(or both). The slavery I assume most people are referring to looked nothing like the biblical view. It never uses words like abomination or put to death about people who refuse to take slaves, even if they're entitled. How is this the same? or similar?
