An interesting question. At the least, it further exposes the propaganda myths that BushCo keeps putting out about Iraq, and will make it that much easier for Congress to put toghether a bipartisan effort to overrule Bush's bloodthirsty inssanity.

At most--this may be the first stage of a complete collapse of the puppet regie Bush put in place in order to create the pretense of "bringing democracy" to the country he invaded on an equally false pretext.

It is just a symptom of the greater disease that is the Iraq government. We've heard it from general after general, there will be no lasting peace in Iraq without a political solution. Pour in all the troops you want, have surge after surge, the solution is not in our military but in the ability of the Iraqi's to govern themselves. And that solution is a long long way off.

Collapse of the non functional government. Iraq will eventually have to be split up into 3 independent governments or wallow in civil war for the unforeseen future.

I haven't read any analysis, in my opinion the Sunni's are bluffing to get the governments attention. There are problems that apparently are not being addresses as fast as the groups want them to be. I think this is just a temporary situation. I also find it interesting that they chose the first day of their summer recess to make the announcement.

This seems to be a tactic they've employed previously and then they end up returning. They have more incentive to join in the gov't because if they don't then the majority will enact laws that they may not want. So pressure is really on them to join in or they will have to live with what the Shiites decide to give them.
