Why have American's forgotten that we are a nation built on our commonality of people. That we are now bent on self and instant gratification vs. helping others at any price, just floors me. Where are the Thomas Paine's of this century! Instead of the lame news media and liberal dribble that is spouting how evil America is. How could Paine's words from The American Crisis be forgotten!
""These are the times that try men's souls: The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman.Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph."
But then again I remember from history leassons that the Democrats hated Abraham Lincoln too! And as President he trampled the contitution and held poltical prisioners...oh how soon we forget.

From a soldier in Iraq!

Amen. Stay safe. "Four score and seven years ago, our forefathers brought forth on this continent a new nation concieved in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal, and now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation can so long endure."

Thank you for your service. I agree these are difficult times but now is not the time to bash liberals or conservatives for no reason.

If you're saying that Democrats hated Abe Lincoln and then Lincoln repressed Americans who was right Lincoln and the Republicans or the Democrats. The fact is, the Democratic Party of the 1860s is not the Democratic Party of today. The Republicans were the liberals, the Democrats were the conservatives. Lincoln held political prisoners because there was a civil war . The Know Nothing party of northern separatists for example, threatened the Union. Lincoln jailed them because they were, in fact advocating treason. Habeas corpus was suspended in order to prevent separatist judges from releasing the traitors prematurely. So my point is that there were special circumstances during the American Civil War, just as there are special circumstances in Iraq now.

Helping others at any price sure did a lot for the Katrina victims. Some of them are still living in FEMA trailers, 2 years after the hurricane.

Bush prefers to arm the entire Middle East over helping true victims in his own country.

Even though I don't believe in what's going on in Iraq, thank you for your service.

I respect what you and others do for our country and hold you in the highest regard...please respect my belief that this war is wrong and ineffective in fighting terrorism. You and other soldiers should not continue to be put in harms way in a war that has not made us any safer at home. I work as a social worker and have worked with people returning from the war with one leg, their lives destroyed.

The Democrats of Lincoln's time would have been the Republicans of today- conservatives. The Republicans were the more liberal party at that time.

And the crime of slavery that occured in the south was far worse than anything Lincoln may have done to "trample the constitution".

We love and support our American soldiers. These people are the real heroes, all of them. Anyone that says different are not thinking straight.

Sadly, those of us who still care and who protest the falsehoods and hypocrisies are branded as UNPATRIOTIC!
Where are the men (and women) that are willing to REALLY fight for this country? We are dying from the inside out.
