So someone said that the people in Iraq were fighting so I could have my freedom of speech to say what I wanted to on this board.

Considering we've had this freedom since 1776 and the only time the freedom to speak was ever under threat was during World War II when the Nazi regime looked to world domination..

Isn't the conservative line of 'they're in Iraq fighting for us" a bunch of baloney?

The reality is..the fighting in Iraq does not benefit the U.S. one bit.

America will always be a free nation. Going to Iraq, or Vietnam...did more to damage our freedom because it caused Americans to be intolerant of other opinions.

No. I do not believe the soldiers in Iraq are fighting for my freedom. An argument could be made on whether they're fighting for Iraqi freedom. But not American freedom. That was never in danger of being lost.

When America is under threat of invasion or attack..then they will be defending my freedom.

Amen sister.

My WWII Navy vet grandfather concurs also;
Picking a fight isn't defending any country's freedoms.

Time to vote the McCarthy mentality out of the U.S. Congress.

Every time in history when you are only willing to defend our own boarders we will be attacked again while the enemy grows stronger. In WWII we did nothing when Japan was murdering millions of the Chinese, then we got attacked. We knew Bin laden was planing stuff but we just sat back and lunched a few cruise missles. Then 9/11 happens. As long as we allow people to find a safe haven to have a base of opperations we will always get attacked.

Lets see under clintions do nothing we where attacked somewhere about every 2 years.

Since 9/11 nothing, it is working. Remember we are fighting an enemy that wants to kill us, and under there rule you would not be able to have a job, you would be forced to wear what your man wants you to wear.

No. The United Nations has no jurisdiction over any sovereign nation. Iraq was invaded fully in compliance with United States law.

I believe the soldiers in Iraq are fighting our ultimate freedom - the right to live. Terrorists have sworn to kill Americans. Fighting terrorism in Iraq or elsewhere is the ultimate fight for freedom.

A heart-felt "Ra-men" to you all, includingTruth Seeker. Its fiunny how many people buy into political double-talk that means nothing. The fighting in Iraq certainly benefits no one, except the power elite who get the profits. And that doesn't include you or me.Besides, I don't want any of their blood money.

we are fighting to prevent Iraq from becoming a future terrorist state and being a launch pad for more attacks like 9/11, you have to be naive to believe this won't happen if we just cut and run.

there have been responders on here that have talked about the troops dying in Iraq for our freedoms. That is odd, since we have actually lost some of our freedoms since the inception of the war. Unfortunately , they are not dying for our freedoms and that is the only reason a U.S. troop should ever die. Bring the troops home.

I pray the day never comes when you need the military to defend you, the way you have it layed out. being former military, after the way you try to belittle them for doing their job, the day you cried for their help, they should just say go to ****, stand up for yourself

Well sweetheart we WERE attacked. Remember? America's military strategy is to take the fight to the enemy instead of waiting for them to attack us again. We are pounding the HELL out of those who did us harm. So please, quit whining.
