Liberals walk like, talk like, act like, respond like and quack like socialists, BUT can't say the "S" word.

Is it because there is too much negativity associated with communism and socialism, to use these words? Most liberals will call you a facist or other name (which is really what they think about all capitalists) in retaliation but isn't "socialism" an appropriate word?

Even the French democrats call their party, "the socialist" party, why can't our liberals be honest and change their party name to the "socialist party"?

After reading all these "anti-capitalist" points of view, I now see the true defiition of a liberal, is "a socialist in denial".

You really struck a nerve here.... so many people screaming "because we're not..." I love it

Simple fact people the Democrats have long promoted the idea of tax and spend. And giving money to those who CHOOSE not to work. Anytime you redistribute wealth and punish people who earn a living by making them pay for someone who CHOOSES not to ---- that is SOCIALISM

Those of you that support Hillary and claim not to be socialists are full of it. The base of her platform is to rob the rich (except the Clintons) and give to the "poor." She wants "free" health care -- hint hint -- SOCIALIZED medicine

They hate the word Socialism -- because they know it turns off the independent voters, whom they need to sway in order to win.

Very good question. I suspect that mostly because of what us as Americans have turned into...That is Liberal democratic republicans. There is nothing wrong with having the same ideas and solutions that others have. Most of the time when people talk politics they oppose a party so much because of one or two particular candidates.
There should be two parties: Capitalists and Non-Capitalists

Your are either in politics for the Money or for the good of the citizens.
Very good question though.

Wow. You got me. I had no idea anyone could tell I am a socialist.
Thank God. Oh wait, I'm also an atheist so... thank... whomever.
By the way, some very basic definitions of the two terms. not very much the same thing at all:

Socialism -- a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole.

Liberalism -- a political or social philosophy advocating the freedom of the individual, parliamentary systems of government, nonviolent modification of political, social, or economic institutions to assure unrestricted development in all spheres of human endeavor, and governmental guarantees of individual rights and civil liberties.

liberals aren't socialists.
I work for liberals who have owned their own business for 20 years and think taxes are too high.

Liberal does not equal Socialism.

Where did all this "socialist" crap come from?

There was a question on this a week or so ago by eltoro that pretty much resolved this.

Werent you taught about making sweeping generalizations?

Because,

A) Liberalism and Socialism are two completely different animals.

B) Contrary to what some people may believe, I am not a liberal, nor do I have ANY political affiliation.
Therefore your generalization is lost on me.

C) Giving a damn about the well-being of your fellow man is Human and CHRISTIAN thing to do.
Funny how conservatives harp on their "Christianity," while utterly failing to act Christian in the remotest sense of the word.

The liberals in the US cannot even call themselves "liberals." Just ask Mrs. Clinton. She says she is a progressive...whatever that is.
Meanwhile, Republican presidential candidates are arguing about who is the most conservative. They are not afraid of the "C" word.

Why would they want to call themselves socialists?

You already do a good job of it for them.

Attempting to solve problems like the pathetic lack of health care that the average citizen in this country has doesn't make you a socialist.

It makes you a good American.

Look into it.

Obviously, you have no clue, beyond what rightwing media tells you liberalism or socialism is, if you think liberals are socialists.
