When he said:

""I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country...corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until all wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed. I feel at this moment more anxiety for the safety of my country than ever before, even in the midst of war."

While House Minority Leader, Nancy Pelosi said that "impreachment is not on the table." Her justification at the time was that it would give Republicans a reason to rally around Bush and Cheney. Recently, as House Leader, she repeated that impeachment is not an option (see http://news.yahoo.com/s/thenation/20070731/cm_thenation/15218930 for details). Should the Democrats reverse this position and go for impeachment? Why or why not?

The troop surge may indeed me working.

No, things are not perfect, but they are getting better every day.

Should we still be thinking about withdrawing our forces at this point?

We are finding ourselves lagging behind the rest of the world. And, our government has us stalled in the sands of Iraq which is sucking our resources and treasury. Has America lost it's edge when it comes to being the forerunners of innovation, problem solving and progress in the world. Are we stuck in the crude fossilized age of the 1950's technologies and mentality because of our overwhelming dependence on corporate American interests and oil interests which are counterproductive to advancing new energy solutions? Is it too late for America?

Do any of you have a family member or someone you love who has been denied medical treatment for a life threatening illness or injury? How about grandparents or elderly parents who are having trouble making ends meet? Don't you think that some form of universal health insurance might help make someone's life a little less stressful so that they won't have to worry about whether they should buy their medication or food at the end of the month?

Honest answers only, please. Trolls, please skip to the next question, thanks.

To the list of political elites who don't want immigration laws enforced, add the name of Portland's mayor. After officers of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency arrested 165 people at three different offices of the American Staffing Resources company, Mayor Tom Potter denounced the raid. Besides catching illegal aliens, ICE apprehended three of the staffing company's managers, charging them with knowingly hiring illegals and supplying them with false documentation. ASR supplies workers to the Fresh Del Monte fruit and vegetable company. ICE said up to as many as 90 of those arrested had fake or forged Social Security cards. Instead of expressing sympathy with those whose Social Security numbers had been stolen, Mayor Potter issued a statement displaying his anger at law enforcement. "I am angered by this morning's arrest by federal officers of approximately 150 Portland residents who were working at a local produce company... [T]o go after local workers who are here to support their families...is bad policy," he said.

When I turned in my notice at my last job they told me that they would pay me for my vaction time. I received a check for the last 80 hrs plus the vaction time they told me I was to receive. A year and a half later I got a bill from them saying that they didnt owe me the vaction time and it was paid to me in error. That I need to mail them a check for the overpayment in the amount of like $518.00.
I was told i was going to receive the money, They paid me a check that someone authorized saying I was owed the money, now they want it back. Is this legal?

Today I was picking up a friend from somewhere and i parked in a pretty tight spot. As I was backing out I noticed it was going to be a bit of a tight squeeze but i managed to get out. I had no idea anything was wrong, but when i got home i noticed a few scratches on the front corner of my vehicle that weren't there earlier that day. I think I may have hit the car and not noticed so I drove back but the car was gone. What should I do about this? The car I hit was old and it was already scratched up.

Andres Chao, the Mexican consul in Little Rock spoke at a rally for illegal aliens in Tennessee and told listeners that while he could not officially endorse or oppose laws in the U.S., he did hope that local enforcement of immigration law was found unconstitutional. "In response to a question about new laws in Tennessee and other states meant to crack down on illegal immigration, Chao said he can only go so far in his advocacy. 'As a diplomat, I have a limit,' he said. But he said the civil leaders gathered in the room could do more and expressed hope that many such laws would be found unconstitutional," the Commercial Appeal writes.

"Recall that in 2003, Arkansas governor Mick Huckabee asked Vicente Fox to build their new consulate in Little Rock. He even temporarily housed them in a state agency office at a rental rate of $1 per year".

Did you hear her ask Tony Snow today if the selling of arms to Saudi Arabia is Bush's way of finacially advancing the Carlyle Group and the companies of the military industrial complex!?!?!?!

His reply was the regurgitation of the status quo..."We're helping our allies defend themselves." Or something along those usual lines!

Long live Helen Thomas! One of the only journalists who even bothers to ask the real questions!

The woman's been a WH press corp member since JFK!!!

Hopefully she has some protege's who will follow in her footsteps!

I work for a small business, at the highest his revenue was around $1 mil. Well, there are some things done here in this office that I do not agree with, but are the way he's done it for years. When his employees have to pay him back, for gas, work phone, or whatever to get them more money I equal it out to their hourly pay and subtract hours from their weeks work. And quite often the company credit cards are used for golf clubs, club memberships, and trips. And if it is not a "company" card, the company pays it anyway. My company buys their groceries and gas and liquor and dinner's out. Which, yes, it does bother me that I get turned down for a raise b/c the company doesn't have enough money right now, but it will, he promises, for the 2nd time. We had to lay some of our guys off this past winter and they went on unemployment. But when we had even little work to do, I paid them, per his request, for "tools"/"admin help" to stay on unempl. Would I be held responsible if he got audited?
