Who is the enemy now? We have people dying here and Bush is like I wonder how many billions Maliki wants this month before he goes on vacation. It just doesn't make sense to me.

Welfare is a lot like liberalism - it looks good on paper, but the implementation? Not so much.

I don't despise people who are in sincere need of a hand up. Anyone can fall on hard times. And while I don't despise anyone (what a waste of time), I definitely have a problem with people using welfare as an excuse to be non-productive. This country offers more opportunity than probably any other in the world. That's why we have people literally dying to get in here. We provide free education through high school, and if people choose not to take advantage of that, why should the rest of society pay for them?

I think we screw our working poor in favor of a welfare class and it's total BS. No American who is making a sincere effort should have to worry about health insurance - let's start helping them, and use a little tough love with the people who would abuse the system. Look at all the LEGAL immigrants who come here and make a good living. If they can do it, why can't Americans?

There is a need for welfare, there are alot of good folks that are in true need of it but then again there are alot of people that know how to work the system and have all of that stuff down to an art. Our Welfare system and whats going on in the war are two different things. Our government has rules and regs set into place for both things, unfortunately our welfare system has too many holes in it that lets people get over, we need to make sure it goes to whom needs it, not some solacker that just wants to collect the dole.

Iraaq, like japan and Korea is a different story during after a war we will need to help them get on their feet.

I have absolutely no sympathy for someone who knew a hurricane was coming and sat in their home and waited for the gov't to do something about it. You gotta be stupid! Stuck in the Superdome......oh well. At least the money going to the war in Iraq and Afghanistan is for something. There was so much fraud, waste and abuse going on after Katrina. Remember those $2500 VISA gift cards that were given out to the "victims" well those people went on shopping sprees and didn't use any of the money to take care of their kids. I wouldn't want anyone to have to take personal responsibility for themselves. Welfare should be abolished. I'm tired of paying taxes so people can sit on their azz all day and watch Jerry Springer.
