Democracy isn't built overnight.

Especially in a region of the world like Iraq that has never known freedom, it takes time to build a stable government, and bring together all the hostile factions.

Germany had the Nazi "werewolf" movement. There were several years of assassinations, sabotage, etc. And we still have troops in Germany.
And Germany didn't have an insurgency externally generated, by a group like Al Qaida, or neighboring states like Iran and Syria.

We also have troops in Bosnia, Kosovo and elsewhere.

Criticizing elements of the Iraq occupation I can understand, pressuring for more effectiveness, reducing waste, and revising toward a workable plan for success, THAT I can understand.

But those who talk about abandoning Iraq, and just leaving its citizens to be slaughtered, and leaving Iraq to become a hub of terrorism, that I can't understand.

my husband and I hired an attorney to help him adopt my son from a previous relationship. it's an uncontested adoption. we went in and spoke to her about the adoption and she told us how much it would cost and we paid her up front. then a couple weeks later she started sending us bills for her services. my husband called to talk to her about it and she claimed that he and I had signed a fee agreement (which we did NOT) that she would hang onto the money we gave her up front and that we would pay for services as we went along. then I called her to tell her we had not signed a fee agreement and she WENT OFF on me and hung up on me . now we're not sure what to do. she's still failed to provide a copy of this so called "fee agreement", which of course she can't do because we didnt' sign one and now we're not sure what to do. we don't have the money to hire another attorney and she's still failed to provide us with a court date for the adoption. any advise on our next move?

We've got one at almost every major intersection here in Albuquerque, and it's becoming a nuisance. Is there a way to fight tickets from these cameras by claiming entrapment? Or is there another argument that the ticket is not valid?

I'm not a driver, just curious... My mom has started slowing down at every intersection in town, just in case. It's kind of scary, knowing that the city is watching you...

Thats what one Democrat appears to be saying...

Monday, July 30, 2007; 6:26 PM

House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.) said Monday that a strongly positive report on progress on Iraq by Army Gen. David Petraeus likely would split Democrats in the House and impede his party's efforts to press for a timetable to end the war.

Many Democrats have anticipated that, at best, Petraeus and U.S. ambassador to Iraq Ryan Crocker would present a mixed analysis of the success of the current troop surge strategy, given continued violence in Baghdad. But of late there have been signs that the commander of U.S. forces might be preparing something more generally positive. Clyburn said that would be "a real big problem for us."

Hmm, so “good news for the country" = a “problem”?
Exactly who's side are the Democrats on anyhow?

She wants to know whether her police check will show anything? She was told by the court that her character would be unblemished.

my college roomate who is over 18, 19 probably was having sex with a 15 year old girl. he is a nice kid doing something really stupid. i dont want to get involved and dont live with him anymore. i also have no proof except i could hear them having sex like every freakin day! i dont want to get involved, but since it is such a serious matter im wondering am i legally liable? i would feel terrible reporting it even though it is a serious crime because the kid is just being an idiot but he isnt a young girl hunter or pedophile or rapist or anything like that, he is a hard working pre med student who thinks he is in love. but i would feel even worse behind bars.. so in california what are the chances i could get in serious trouble for this?

I look for "I support the troops" decal on vehicles and when I stop at stop lights (Within shouting distance) "OR" when I stop at a Restaurant I politely ask them to send their 19 and 21 year old children to the war and support the war and help make Mr Bush look good. The response? All the supporters look as if they are eating a tart lemon. Why don't they want to help Mr Bush?

If you have signed the opt-out form with the school for your child not to be contacted, how else are they obtaining our phone number, my Child's name, and specifics of what grade they are currently in (this I mention, as when caller ID came up US Goverment, they asked for what could be both Father/Son), I asked can you give me a middle inital, and he said the one whom well be a Senior this year. (This after I ask whom is calling, with the caller ID, and tried to pass themself off as a friend, it's Jonathan, didn't admit with whom, till I told them, um.....came up US Goverment on my end, Jonathan, then he states, the military). After I told him, I signed the Opt-Out Form (from beginning of Jr. Year), and ask to take my phone number off the list of my 16 yr old son. How else are they obtaining contact information, if not from the school?

Please don't think I'm not patriotic, support my country, I have a nephew deployed now in Ramadi, fighting day and night. I want the calls stopped.

I'm tired of this last ditch smear by Republicans that Democrats "want" America to "lose" anything, except of course for the partisan politics by Republicans that is costing our troops their lives?

Can Republicans win in 2008 when they are running on denying a war fiasco they created, with their eyes wide open and their minds shut,no less? Probably not.
