Thats what one Democrat appears to be saying...

Monday, July 30, 2007; 6:26 PM

House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.) said Monday that a strongly positive report on progress on Iraq by Army Gen. David Petraeus likely would split Democrats in the House and impede his party's efforts to press for a timetable to end the war.

Many Democrats have anticipated that, at best, Petraeus and U.S. ambassador to Iraq Ryan Crocker would present a mixed analysis of the success of the current troop surge strategy, given continued violence in Baghdad. But of late there have been signs that the commander of U.S. forces might be preparing something more generally positive. Clyburn said that would be "a real big problem for us."

Hmm, so “good news for the country" = a “problem”?
Exactly who's side are the Democrats on anyhow?

Yes, of course it does. For their whole foundation is that Bush is an idiot that took us to a war just for his own purposes and to kill our men. Well, should the war be win able it could destroy the whole liberal movement on this Continent, and maybe even save the Western Civilization if the American people stand up and realize a vote for the Dem's is a vote for the USA to go down like the Dem's feel that America is a mad dog of the world, worthless and should be nothing more than a 3rd world government. However, their (dems) leaders and the powers that be, of course would never be considered anything but the saviors of secularism better known as communism and put us all into their proper place as slaves of the world with the Dems as the rulers. Take a look as Western Europe...that is our future under the hands of these liberal Dem's.

Ah....do you think I give a darn about the Dem's?...they are those who wish to destroy my homeland. And if you think I lie you are fooling yourself. Remember, they can promise you everything, but there is a price to pay...and I don't think people understand the danger from within.

Like the majority of politicians Democrats are self serving & only care about holding office.
With that said I highly doubt a "good progress" report to come out of Iraq in September, look for level headed Repulicans to jump ship on the President after the Petraeus report.

a timetable is a bad idea anyway, now that there is some signs of hope in Iraq it seems there is no way Congress can override the President's veto.

I don't think that's bad news for Democrats. It's good news for America I guess. But how is any progress going to be made when Parliament is on vacation for a month? Victory is not just by the Military, it has to come from the Iraqi government.

Think about it with margin of error that could even be 0% that approves if the Democrats (not even their spouses and children). It shows why an article I read the other day on Townhall expressing how the Congress has interpreted the 2006 election in the wrong way and thought it meant they could go off the far left side on every issue. Now with another election shortly they will see the moderates will desert their party and the cultural/fiscal conservatives who sat out the last election pulling down the Republican vote total will return to the polling place.

The Democrats are on the side of Democrats. And that's pretty much it.
With Harry Reid having bragged about how Iraq could net them so much success at the ballot box, how can there be any doubt that the Democrats care more about their own power base than they do the troops, or even America?

Yes it is true they want to pull out of Iraq, and if any report shows that there is progress being made, the Dems will surely have a problem, since they really wont be able to keep saying that Iraq has been a COMPLETE FAILURE,.

Dont really agree with the war, but we shouldn't have to twist good news around, so that it benefits our point of views

Let's see,,,,how long has it taken for a small iota of "good news"? We were told before that the mission was accomplished and that the Al Qaeda were in the last throes. That was good news. So do we believe it this time or not. Last times they lied. Can we really trust this Administration or those under their command to give us the straight skinny or just lies, lies and more lies?

If, indeed there is good news that is wonderful. Most Democrats would love to see us be in a position where we have accomplished so much that we are finally able to bring our people home. Is the news that good or is it just a teaser to get suppor for prolonged stay where we are not, and never were, wanted?

It would appear the Democrats only care about the Democrat party.

Spin much?

The article is about how it would be bad news for the agenda to pull out troops. It says nothing about how it would hurt the party in general or in elections.

The Democrats are like many sports fans; they are for whoever is winning at the time.
