Of course not. The whole 'support the troops' thing is just the Republicans using leverage. During the first Gulf War we saw lots and lots of bumper stickers saying 'I Support the Troops' which was code for 'I support the war'.

It's the administration who doesn't support the troops. They continually try to cut veterans' benefits, deny wounded vets medical care, etc. They keep our troops fighting a war they can't win, just so the president can save face, and the administration is incapable even of coming up with a new plan, instead they're just doing what they can to keep the war going. And they've invoked stop-loss so guys can't go home after their tour is finished.

I say: Support the troops--bring them home!

You're not going to find a direct quote saying "We don't support the troops." Politicians lie, and when they don't lie, they spin.

But, if you strip away the spin, and look at the actions they actually take, you can infer the truth.

For instance, Democrats constantly speak out against the war, which, when you strip away the spin, could be viewed as not supporting the troops, since it's detrimental to thier success and expresses opposition to thier mission. But, at the same time, many Democrats /did/ vote for the war, and have kept voting to fund it, even after they gained a majority in Congress that would have made de-funding effortless. That could be taken as support for the war, through thier actions, not thier speaches, and thus, by extension, support for the troops.

That would be political suicide.Reid said the war is lost.Pelosi and her elk road blocked funding and will do it again.Pelosi travelled to syria to have a cup of tea with the president of a country who has been supplying arms that are killing and maiming our troops.Actions speak louder than any words by a politician......So no,dems dont support the troops.

Unbelievable how Democrat's will do anything to not look like the idiots they really are . How many times did Nancy Polise do every thing she could to cut funding to are troops wasting Billions of Tax dollars and knowing full well Bush would Vito her dumb *** .Did that stop her Hell no she did it again! She and other Democrats did manage to plug millions of Tax dollars for peanut storage in in the war Fund that are troops need Desperately. But you need a Direct Quote Huh HOW ABOUT HARRY REID ANNOUNCING in a press conference "WE LOST THIS WAR" Did you forget that one????? I could go on and on ! But bottom line is if you are a Democrat you are in one of 2 categories #1 you are a babbling Moron or #2 You Lie about every thing making you a piece of s**** Democrat Politics are getting are guys killed but that doesn't seam to bother them one bit ! And that in a nut shell makes the Liberal Democrats the scum of the earth!

Any statements that are against any aspect of the war -- someone will claim those are against the troops.

Some people just cannot seem to grasp the concept of respecting soldiers for following orders, while still thinking the orders are foolish.

There are no Democratic leaders who do not support our troop.

That is just a simplistic Bush/Republican meme, like, "You're either with us or against us" and, "We're fighting them over there so we don't end up fighting them over here".

They always say "we support the troops".
Right after they say "we don't support the mission."

Of course they aren't going to come out and say it....that would be political suicide. Look more to the actions, rather than the words, and draw your own conclusions.
