Yesterday my gecko had a pretty good shed except for the toes on her left foot. They looked swollen and red at the very tip and one was bleeding. When i picked her up to put her in a warm bath to soothe her toes, she seemed to make whistling sounds, supposedly from her nose. My mom said it sounded like a mouse. Her body language kind of said she was struggling or "huffing and puffing." Is this a gecko cry? Or does she have breathing problems?? Help would REALLY be appreciated!

please tell me the following:

1. what do you feed your turtles??
2. how often you feed them??
3. how much you feed them??
4. the size of your turtles??

i feel like i am feeding my turtles too much or too little because alot of times they would swim crazily up against the glass looking at me, even after i just fed them alot of pellets.

i have 2 RESs at about 5' each and it gets very annoying because they always beg for food and i have to cover the tank up with cloth so they stop swimming crazily against the glass.
i dont want to feed them too much all the time, nor do i want to cover the tank with cloth 24/7......

thank you

my one month old gecko eats about 10 crickets a day... he is starting to shed today (and eating his shed) should I feed him tonight or will the crickets stress him out?

I have a leopard gecko, she is about a month old and the pet store said your supposed to use paper towel not substrate for the first few months until they get older. I'm going to take her out in a tiny box and clean her cage. can I put towels (like kitchen towels on the floor of the cage) I don't want to use paper towel because she might get burnt because I have a bottom heater.

ok so Im getting a turtle and I want him just to live in my room like literally in my room! lol I setup a little cage thing sort of like a kennel for a dog it has a heater blanket and a lamp above it. I also Have a little spot with pee pads and my vet said i can train them 2 go on the pad! craZ rite? I removed all wires from the floor and anything he can choke on I aldo made the place where his cage is his corner. with food/toys and other things at night i simply will put him back in his cage 2 sleep.here is the problem I have to go 2 skool in september [no duh rite?lol] im worried bout him being out alone! =[ should I just put him in a tank or buy a little play pen for him during the day? & if I do this all do I still need to buy a florecent lite? or is the natrual sunlite from my 2 windows and the lights in my room good enough? & do u have any opinions on how to house him [he is a box turtle bout 5 -6 inches]?

I have a question about my new ball that i havent seen asked or answered anywhere. I got my ball two days ago. i was lucky because he never stressed, in fact, he was hungry and took a mouse on day two. ironically, thats also the problem. the mouse was on the edge of the water bowl when Novakk!, my snake, struck it, and started to constrict it under water. i was worried theyed both drown. i moved them onto the bark again... and he finished and ate it... but seriously - wtf? should i worry about that happening again? is that a normal kill technique? is my snake just clumsy... or can they hold their breath? sorry if dumb. but i couldnt find anything on that anywhere... answers would be greatly appreciated.. thanks

I just think it's funny how us reptile enthusiasts have created the schism between those of us who prefer sand based substrates and those of us who prefer non-sand substrates. I mean, some people take it really seriously! I feel that both types of substrates have their pros and cons. Tile is nice because it's easy to clean and there is no risk of impaction, but without the ability to burrow some reptiles become stressed. Sand is nice because the reptile is free to burrow, but a little bit harder to clean, plus there is that risk of impaction (though it hasn't ever happened to any of my herps whom are all kept on sand). I dunno, I just though it was funny how we're so concerned for the well being of the animal that we debate each other on topics like this (still, it's good that we care). So, my question (yes, I have one!) is this: Which type of substrate do you use for your reptile, what type of reptile(s) do you have, and why do you use the substrate that you do?

I`m buying my daughter a Leopard Gecko. Do I need to fit a heat light in the vivarium if I`m using a heat mat. The viv is quite small and fitting a heat light would be very difficult. Would a simple strip light do?

I was watching the film Anacoda recently and was wondering if anyone could tell me what would happen to Owen Wilsons charchter after he was swallowed . We saw the out line of his body inside the snake as it swam off . What would happen to the clothes he was wearing . Top, Kaki shorts , and shoes /socks .

My tortoise is quite old - I've had her for 16 years and my grandad had her for a very long time before that. At the moment she's digging a hole in the garden like she's about to lay eggs but she hasn't been in contact with a male tortoise for about 5 or 6 years and she's not laid eggs in the 16 years i've had her. Is it possible she'll lay fertile eggs?? (i live in the south of england and its been very warm recently - could this effect her?)
