They must have meat to live. If you cannot put live flies in there for them to eat, why not make toad houses for your garden. If you have found three already, it sounds like your yard is just right for toad living.

Get a couple of terra cotta pots (those pink clay pots), and lay them on their side in your garden or a shrubby, shady part of your front or back yard. Put the edge of the pot a little in the dirt to anchor it down. If you'd like, paint them pretty colors, or make a welcome sign for the toads... then put another coat of shellac on to waterproof it. Letting the toads live outside allows them to catch flies, mosquitoes and other pesky insects. Putting toadhouses out gives them a safe, cool place to hide during the hot part of the day.

Here are some links I found about toad houses and toads in general:

Here is an article on how to keep a toad as a pet... it involves an aquarium and diet (which must include insects); if you are not up to the task of keeping these creatures alive, please do put them in the yard so they can do their job of eating the bugs. http://sln.fi.edu/fellows/fellow9/jun99/care_for.shtml

If you decide to enjoy your toads from outside, here is how to make a pond, to entice them to hang out at your place:

Good luck! And don't forget to name them, whether you keep them indoors or outdoors!

If they're toads rather than tadpoles, they're carnivores.

You can try to find insects, look under rocks/fallen wood for pillbugs, or find small worms. You might also try checking pet stores near you for small crickets or fruitflies. If you aren't able to provide them with the correct diet, it would be better to let them go.

Let them go. Wild frogs rarely survive in captivity. You cannot mimic his habitat and he'll get sick and die. It's a horrible think to do to a living thing.

And FYI toads are carnivores- if you give it fruit or vegetables, you'll make it horribly sick.

Please just let it go, you're being so mean.
