Well, box turtles don't get food everyday, especially proteined foods like worms and insects. These are their favourites. You can feed proteined foods once or twice a week. The seconad part of their diet is fruits, berries and sweet fruit (i.e., mellons, grapes, tomatoes, bananas, etc.). You can feed that twice a week. They also take in leafy greens like dandelion, which is very nutritious contaning lots of calcium. You can try to feed some dark leafy salads greens as well (musculin salad mix you find at supermarkets). Stay away from cabbages and spinach, they contain oxalates and other compounds that inhibit absorption of calcium and essential nutrients. In captivity, you should supplement their diet with pelleted food (i.e., box turtle pellets, freshwater pelleted, cat/dog food), all of which contain many vitamins and minerals. Feed once or twice a week. Feed about a teaspoon or two each meal. They do not need to be fed everyday, but need to be in a humid environment and access to water (pan). In winter, if the temps drop below 70F, they may slow down and hibernate, if it goes down to the low 60sF. You can feed less and even stop if they are in total hibernation. Good luck.

Hi, box turtle don't always eat every day. Sometimes every other. You could feed it live things such as about 1 dozen large crickets, slugs, meal worms, wax worms, earthworms, insect really. Crickets are good because it supplies a lot of protein but it needs a balanced diet of vitamins. Make sure it get fruits and veggies too. I feed my own box turtles, corn on the cob, tomato, lettuce, strawberries, cherries, bananas, pears and a lot more things. Would suggest just putting a but of food in that wouldn't rot or go bad in a week or so in the cage. Then clean it out every week. The turtles would eat what they want till they are satisfied and leave the rest. Just make sure they are getting a good balanced diet. If you have any further more questions about box turtles I would suggest www.billsboxturtles.com. Hope this helps. Good luck. :)
