Newly aquired turtles and wild caught turtles (most pet store ones) are often dehydrated and won't eat. They can go without food for a week or two and be fine but if you want to encourage your boxie to eat you should try soaking it in chin deep lukewarm water for 20-30 minutes a day for the first week-two weeks. Offer different types of food like worms (they like food that wiggles) as well as greens like Dandelion and berries or ripe banana. Here's a website that may help....... http://www.aboxturtle.com/

The fact that you did just get it is the likely cause. Box turtles and tortoises are both a bit sensitive about changes of habitat and environment and often go off their food until they settle in and feel comfortable again. Just offer a small amount of food daily until she starts eating normally. Earthworms and red fruits are usually favourites of boxies, try tempting her with those.

ive had turtles before and had the same problem with red eared sliders.
make sure you leave the food where its currently spending most of its time
its bound to eat sometime its just not used to its habitat it may take a few days

If you want to get your turtle off to a good start, feed it earthworms. I've NEVER had a box turtle pass up earthworms!
