I've had my leopard gecko for almost 2 weeks now, and he still keeps trying to escape from his tank. I know he couldn't no matter how hard he tries, but I'm worried that he might hurt himself. I read in the book, Leopard Geckos For Dummies, that if the gecko does this longer than the first few days in its new tank, something's wrong, and that it's likely that it is too visible to another household pet such as a cat or dog. I have cats and dogs, but they're not even allowed in the room where I keep my gecko. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you.

so i'm unsure of what to do. i have a baby painted turtle that i have had for around 2 months roughly. i dont know what to feed him. normally right now we feed him really often. whenever he follows our finger along the glass and bites at it through the glass we feed him or if he just looks like he is hungry, which is often. so we feed him these mini mini worms that we got recommended by a pet shop guy like 2 or 3 times daily (just a pinch each time) and then we give him an earthworm that we find in our backyard or from the bait shop if we have it on hand probably 4 worms a day. we put turtle pellets in there but he doesnt eat them as much as the worms, so all they do is stink up the place. any suggestions? and i already tried looking this up and no he has no bulging or anything but im just worried because i was told that he can have a deformed shell if he grows too big too fast. thanx so much in advance!!! :)

I have a baby painted turtle in a 10 gallon tank with an area to bask-how much water should I have in the tank for him & can I put sand in the bottom of the the tank? I know they drink the water they swim in, so I was wondering if sand is a bad idea? I had aquarium stones in it, but the tank just got so dirty, so I took them out. I just ordered a filter too,so maybe I can put the rocks back in?

On the lawn infront of my home I found a teenie-tiny turtle(his shell is about the size of a quarter)-I checked -it looks like this is a box turtle. I have researched-with turtle rehabs- to try to determine- what would be best for him-Some have told me to put him back where I found him-or close to that location(However, thats not an option-my lawn meets a busy road) So where- WOULD I put him ? --I have also been told NOT to put him out at all--that I should keep him(or find someone to-) until he gets bigger -then I can release him-maybe -into the woods-As you can see I'm getting conflicting reports- I would really like to give this little guy the best start I can-. What 'road' should I take to help out this small turtle?-Does anyone have any experience with this or any advice -I'd greatly appreciate it -Thank you!

I work at several schools; one has a 10'' turtle which some jerk has put in a small 20 inch basin, and filled with a 1/2 inch of water. The turtle has been in this basin 24/7 for at least 4 yrs. The teacher who brought her to the school has long since gone & no one knows where the turtle originally came from.

I’ve decided to take charge and let her go. I’ve got 2 choices where to release her

#1 is a pond nearby. #2 is a beautiful 12ft long coy pond at another school. The coy pond already has a turtle who is quite happy. There are rocks and grass for him to bask on, shade, &underwater foliage.

My biggest concern is that the basin turtle has not swum or caught her own food for at least 4 years (if she ever has). So I don’t know how she’d fare in a real pond. I tend to think the coy pond is the better choice. But I don’t know much about turtles. Would 2 do ok in 1 coy pond? It seems perfect accommodation for 1 turtle, but I don’t know if it would be cramped for 2 turtles.

I found a baby scorpion in my sons room tonite crawling from under the bed. I live in a two bedroom apartment in dallas, tx. I have looked up some info on this creature and found that they are found commonly in the middle eastern and Africa. So why is it here. Maybe it is lost. Should I be worried that the parents aren't to far behind. His color was light brown with dark spots on the claws. what should I do.

I got a baby ball python a little over a week ago and the pet shop told me to wait a week to feed her, so I did. I was told that she had eaten 2 times since hatch, and she had eaten live fuzzes. I want to get her on frozen. First I don’t know if I am doing it right.
I am setting the frozen mouse on the a plate for about 20 min. with a paper towel under it to get all the water. Then I am putting Gaia (my python) in a large critter keeper (not her normal tank) then the food in with her. She wont eat it. What do I do, or what am I doing wrong? Also befor you ask...Yes, her tank is kept at a good temps and she has water I even mist 1-2 times a day. She has a half log and a climbing log as well. I can think of anything else to try. I even used some tweezers to wiggle the food around.

brumation defined as inactivity (ie refusal to eat) during winter.
is brumation ok for my pet turtle? I've recently just come across this now when someone had told me about it

I never knew there could be a problem with this as my turtle has passed a couple winters like this

I am wondering if I should do something now that I've come across this problem?

i have a friend that has raised bearded dragons and he said it would be fine, because his had ate bees before. But my dragon is acting very strange since. Like he is in a lot of pain. And he wont eat anything. I tried feeding him some lettuce to help digest but he wont eat anything. Its been 48 hours and he is still alive. Is he past the worst of it. Or is it going to get worse. Will he die?
