hi Brian
I have 4 iggies---3 I hatched from eggs, 5 yr ago...one baby I found in my pool in January.

Aquariums are one of the worst choices to keep iggies (no circulation & they get smelly). My husband made mine "The Igselcior condo" on the patio, they get natural sunlight, each have a pool & plenty of space. I'd be glad to send you a picture of it.

Corn cob bedding? No way! They can eat it and get very constipated.

Are you handling him/her, every day, so s/he is friendly? Giving a daily bath in the tub, in warm water, to stay clean & exercise?

A couple suggestions. The first is to check what type of black light you have, I've included a link that discusses the different types. One type provides UV and the other causes eye damage. The second is about the bedding. Iguanas need and enjoy fairly high humidity which is frequently done by misting the enclosure. My experience with corn cob is that it moulds easliy and having your iguana breath in mould spores could lead to serious health problems. The other concern about corn cob is that the consistency of it can easily lead to impaction in baby iguanas (which I assume yours is if it is in a 10 gal). The anapsid.org site is one of the best sources around for info on iguanas. You will find excellent answers to all your questions about diet etc. there.

Besides a bigger cage you are fine. Keep in mind they get very big. Mine is 21/2 years and he is about 3.5' from nose to tip of tale. I have him in a large ferrite cage as a mid size cage. You may want to look into them. I am going to build him a larger cage in Sept. 6'tall x 4'w X 5'd .

my brother has a iguana and he gives her some type of medicine for her skin i think you just spray it on the food before you feed it to him.
