The little guy keeps kicking sand around, and it fills up the water dish. He's been darting around the cage and being very active lately. Is this normal? Or is he flippin out for some reason?
Should I give him more sand so he can dig himself a huge hole to play in? There's only about an inch layer in there of coarse wood type sand. Should I have really fine sand in there instead? I'm thinking he wants to cover himself or something.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

My turtle has algae on his back, and it is difficult to peel or scrape off. How can I safely remove this from his shell without hurting him. I read not to put a plic(sp?!) (sucker fish) in with him, and he has never shared a tank with other fish. He is easy to handle, I just don't want to scrub or push on him too hard, he is kind of an old fella.

I have turtles who like to eat them but the ones you buy in the store say to keep them refridgerated. Well, occassionally some of them that I've fed to my turtles have escaped into the substrate and get much bigger. Seems like the chilled ones often just die before I even get a chance to use them and they never get any bigger because they hardly move, let alone breed. Has anyone ever bred their own and if so, what type of food and container do they need?

I use to have two turtles, the one that is currently on her own was brought last. The other two turtles died and she didn't. Is it possible that bringing a third turtle created something for them to feel threatened? So now she's alone and I'm afraid that she might be lonely. What should I do?

i wanna buy the "Zoo Med Eco Earth Compressed Coconut Fiber Expandable Substrate" for my ball pythons tank, it seems to be good for holding in moisture plus i want a substrate that looks more like the snakes actual habitat rather then the aspen bedding. so is this an okay substrate for my snake to have?

I'm a fairly new owner of a Russian Tortoise. Last night I came home to find him with ridges on his arms. It looks like some of his scales fell off. Do they shed? Or is he just growing? I'm kind of worried.
