I have a tortise that a friend bought for me in china. It wont eat, and its not hibernating. Please tell me what tortises eat! I tried feeding it lettuce and celery, but all it did was close its eyes for a long time then open it again and stare and stare at me. The tortise is not a turtle. I make it a little home (but the tortise in a wide plastice bucket) in the balcony and it is freezing cold. The windoe has little bits of frost on it. What should i do? If there is anything else that i need to know about taking care of my tortise, then please tell me. If the info is judging on gender, then please tell me hoe to classifly the gender for my tortise. Name your source.

I need some way to regulate the humidity in a large glass tank full of hermit crabs, keeping the relative humidity between 70% and 85%. Getting it within the target range is easy enough, using certain substrates and moistening them. However, the only way to keep it within an acceptable range is to open and close the tank, which is difficult to do at night or when I'm not there! One would assume that there is some sort of regulator on the market for tank humidifiers and foggers, but this is not the case. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have a turtle who is 13 years old. She lives inside and walks around my room at night and is under a uv heated light during the day. I take her outside to have her in the sun but would love to create an outside pond for her swim in while I am outside. I have seen some in magazines. Anyone know any tips? How do you keep the water clean?

This is a recent problem. I have had her for about three weeks and she has had runny stool from being fed too many wet greens with the pet store. I have been letting her eat timothy hay to get rid of her runny-ness. It helped but just today, six days after letting her eat the timothy hay, she has went to the bathroom two times and each time there has been a little blood around it.

I cant get her to the vet until monday or tuesday, so I would like to know what this is. I hope she's doing ok because my other female just got over a vitamin A defficiency and dehydration!* Its been a joy having them but theres been a lot of problems with them also.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

(*PS- these are problems that they have come with... So I'm not stupid and I am taking care of them the way I'm supposed to. They're spoiled little babies......)

3 days ago, we couldn't find Zeus. When we lifted the tree, he was curled way up inside of it. We didn't think much of it at the time. Well, he hasn't come out yet. We have checked on him, and he's warm (and breathing). When we touch him, he curls tighter. He doesn't appear to be "stuck," but I'm starting to worry about him.

Any advice?

allright. im usually a know it all when it comes to beardies, but this is beyond my expertise. we took in a 8 month old male beardie at my store today, the customer didnt want it cause it was visious!! i didnt think to much of it, but this guy has serious issues. ive seen male behavior problems at this age, but, he bites, hisses, flares, and smacks his tail!! is there any particular reason he acts like this? and is there a way to tame him down?

I recently (as in 2 weeks ago) got a hatchling baby ball python. He hasn't eaten since then, but I was told not to worry.

I took him out of his cage today, and he started rotating his head (exposing his white belly). This was when I held him and when I had him on the floor.

I don't know what this behaviour means :( Someone please help!

I just got a little baby lizard called an anole a couple weeks ago. I'm feeding him live baby crickets. I wanted to know if there is an appropriate feeding limit on how many crickets to give them. I've been putting about 10 in his tank which he devours in about 2 days. Is this normal? Should I be giving him more or less? I've asked people at the pet stores and no one seems to know and/or care. A friend of mine said just to put some in there and when he is finished eating them to just replenish. Is this true? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

My green anoles are almost always brown when they are in there cage, but when I have to move them and I put them in a small cage with nothing in it temporarily they all turn green, but as soon as I put them back they turn brown again. The temperatures are right and they eat and move around fine. Why do they do this?

Is it feasible to mail order crickets and have them sustainable outdoors in a "cricket bin." for just one gecko? If it's feasible, please give me some details about raising crickets. Or maybe I should continue my weekly trek to the pet store?

HI i bought a chinese water dragon form my local petsmart about 1 week ago and when i bought her she was green on her belly but brown on her back.........she was and still is that same color but is still a baby (only 8-9 inches long) is she this color because she is a baby and hasnt "formed" her solid green color yet??? please help!
