I have a turtle who is 13 years old. She lives inside and walks around my room at night and is under a uv heated light during the day. I take her outside to have her in the sun but would love to create an outside pond for her swim in while I am outside. I have seen some in magazines. Anyone know any tips? How do you keep the water clean?

We keep our outside ponds on constant fill, anything that floats up will flow out. You can get a big pond filter too, but our system seems to work fine.

You'll need a fence, 4x4s and hardware cloth will work. Bury it down a couple feet in case she decides to dig. And it will have to be tall enough (maybe a ledge on top) that she can't climb it. And yes, turtles CAN climb! Just be ready to bring her in when it gets cold.

Well, one nice thing, you don't have to do it very fast.
