If they are few and raised in a sterile environment(unlikely) I imagine they would do no lasting harm. Otherwise, they may just irritate the turtle. Worse yet, harbor bacteria or traces of pesticides, as they are quite resilient to them these days. I would recommend some crickets.

my hub says no the turtle may eat them he works for orkin

I think it can blind a turtle because of its uglyness.
