I have a 29g tall tank planted with tropicals; It was given to me with a tree frog who is no longer with us. It has pea gravel, covered with top soil covered with moss. I believe the pea gravel was collected outdoors, some moss may have been aswell .
At some point red wigglers, sow bugs and millipedes were introduced. the millipedes are abundant and their are hundreds of small worms (red wigglers I'm guessing upon inspection). The sow bugs don't seem to be as prolific.
Thus far they have not been eating plants as far as i can tell but i am aware that all these bugs could potentially eat most of my plants.
I was planning on obtaining either a tree frog or anoles for this tank but since discovering how many bugs i have I am considering CO2'ing the tank with dry ice in an attempt to kill off the bugs first.

so should i co2 or would an insectivores inhabitant be able to keep these bugs in check?

We just bought an African Fat-Tailed Gecko. He is dark brown with a white belly. As of today, he skin has turned white all over his back. His legs and tail are still dark brown, but his back is almost white. Is this due to shedding or is he sick?

My son's 5 month old bearded dragon will not eat anything but meal worms and crickets! I have tried several kinds of greens/veggies and fruits. The reptile girl at Petsmart said he'll be okay as long as his food is well-fed. Any advice or opinions, constructive critisism...?

We are considering buying a bearded dragon as a pet, and we have done a bit of research on them, and I feel we are fully capable of taking care of such an animal for the most part. But, we tend to go away on long weekend trips a few times a year, or on vacation once or twice a year. We really do not know anyone that would be able to care for the pet when we are gone either. Is this a pet that can survive a few days alone with extra food and water? Or is this not the pet to have if we can't be home 365 days a year?

I found one in my room last night on the wall, there's no spot in my house that it can get through, and even if it did when I opened a door, I would've noticed. And how do you get rid of them, like get them outside?

What reptile vitamin has a vitamin A,D to E ratio of 100:10:1.

They get the right foods and have a UV light but they are rescues and didn't recieve the proper care now they have tons of problems and need vitamins to help bring them back.

I researched the vitamins and it says that the best vitamins have the ratio above. I need something with calcium, little to no phosphorus and not to much vitamin D3.

I brought my baby boy (named him Slash) home on Monday. The reptile shop I got him from said that it was his feeding day and he hadn't eaten yet so I bought him a meal. He chowed down when I got him into his new, warm home. It's been a few days, he seems good. I gave him 48 hrs. before I held him for a long period of time so he could digest. He hasn't defecated yet, is that normal? Also, he has a lump on his spine (like an abnormality) and the guy at the shop said it's ok. I picked him because he was different and Ifigured everyone else was looking for a perfect specimen. I think he's perfect =). Anyway, so I've been holding him a lot today and he's been really cool. He'll chill for a little bit, then move around, then sit for a while again. He's freakin' ADORABLE. I just put him back in his cage on the cool side (bout 74 degrees) and he's just sitting there. Is he ok? Did I hold him too long? Was he too hot? Normally he crawls back into his hideout.

I have two RES turtles. they live in a 10 gallon aquarium, and eat mainly ReptoMin. (From time to time I give them fresh snails, dried shrimp or krill, anacharis, greens, or rosy reds). I have a ZooMed brand filter, recommended especially for turtle tanks; it's 4W and 120 volts. this is the fourth filter I've tried and nothing seems to work.

For some reason, about 3 days after I change their water, it starts to smell and gets progressively worse until I change it.

What can I do to get rid of the odor? It stinks up my house and I'd hate to have to get rid of my babies...

I am a US soldier in Korea, and I have purchased a turtle on base, at a flower shop. The owner isn't great at English. I know we can not sell items on base from a different country, so I thought maybe you could help. They grow to 3 inches, (right now are 1.5 inches), shell is not boxed, very distinct yellow and green swirls on shell, yellow and dark green stripes on face and neck, stout nose, and a yellow underbelly with black markings under the base of the neck and tail. Please help me figure out the species of bait and speedy!

I saw in another question someone said they had a heat rock cave for their snake. This sounds like a very good idea since Snakes prefer dark places and need the warmth. I have never been a fan of undertank heaters and heat rocks can sometimes cause burns. A cave with the heat in the top of it would be perfect. Does anyone know where these can be found?
