We just bought an African Fat-Tailed Gecko. He is dark brown with a white belly. As of today, he skin has turned white all over his back. His legs and tail are still dark brown, but his back is almost white. Is this due to shedding or is he sick?

You should of seen me the first time that happened to me, I freaked out because I knew very little about Fat Tailed Gecko's.

Here's whats happening:

Your Gecko is shedding, yes its as simple as that. Don't play with him while his skin is light because he gets very defensive, and if scared will pee on you. The shedding process takes 20 minutes at most. He should do it about every 2-4 weeks.

If there is still shed on him...
If there is still shed on him, depending on the place it could be fatal. (Don't worry, its an easy fix) If there's alot, fill a plate with some warm water, make sure the water is shallow enough that he can breathe. Your then going to lightly scrub the shed off of him.

This happened to me once, but it was on his tail. I didn't need any hot water, and simply pealed it off.

I would reccomend placing your phone in his cage, and record him shedding. Believe me, it's cool.
