In regards to red eared sliders, they are just like any other reptile. Laying eggs will and can happen, even if there is no male around to fertilize the egg. Just make sure she is getting enough calcium and vitamins in her diet along with the proper lighting (which if she is a healthy 10 years old, sounds like you're doing a good job). She'll be fine. Human women still ovulate, even though the egg is not fertile. Its hormones and how the body naturally works.

Female turtles will start to lay eggs when they are mature. They will lay eggs with or without a male present. If there is no male present, the eggs will not be fertile and can be discarded. After mating, a female may be able to lay fertile eggs for a few weeks or perhaps longer. As eggs develop inside a female, her appetite will wane. She may fast for the few weeks before eggs are laid. Presumably, this is partly to allow for room for the eggs to grow and perhaps because she does not feel so well at that time.

Probably a fairly common infertile egg- often laid by older female turtles with no mates.
COULD be an example of sperm storing. Some reptiles and turtles are known to store sperm for years- but it is not known in the Red-ears (as far as I know).
It COULD also be parthenogenesis- if it is fertile. (This is when a female lays a fertilized egg without a male around, like with the Komodo dragons in the news lately.) It has not been documented in Red-ears yet, but there is a first time for everything!

Not all eggs are fertile. Infertile eggs are essentially the menstruation off egg-laying animals. Chew on that next time you're having fried eggs over-easy. Lol.
Some species are capable of virgin births. Strange but true, on more than one occasion female komodo dragons that have never been exposed to males have laid eggs that hatched. I don't have a clue weather or not this can happen with turtles, though.

Reptiles are kind of like chickens, chickens lay eggs even though they haven't been fertilized, it's the same with reptiles they lay eggs even though they aren't fertile. I would take her to a vet to get a check up because she should lay more than one and if she has them inside her and she can't lay them she'll die. This happened to 2 of my lizards and I just had one spayed last week because she was egg bond.
