First of all beardies are a big responsibility, so be prepared if you decide to get one. They are wonderful pets but do require a lot of time and are not cheap (especially in the beginning). You need a tank (at least 40 gallons), A basking light. a UVB light, Substrate (papertowels, tile, and reptile carpet are the best) DO NOT use sand or wallnut shells, these are very dangerous. Do not use heated rocks because beardies do not have highly developed heat sensors on their bellies and will burn themselves.
As far as food, crickets are excellent as well as meal worms. I feed my beardie about 30 crickets a day. Make sure that the crickets are no larger than the space between his eyes. Fedd him/her as mans as he will eat in a 10 minute period each day. They also need to be offered greens (collards, turnips, etc Not lettuce), and other veggies (like squash). Here is a wonderful website that has the best nutrition page.http://www.beautifuldragons.503xtreme.com/Nutrition.html
You will also need to get him vitamin supplements (vitB3).

i have a bearded dragon.i use a 20 gallon tank, and for substrate i use ground english walnut shells, available at any retail pet store.for water, i use a simple drip system, which is a small plastic cup with a hole poked on the bottom which then drips into a shallow water dish.for food i feed them collard greens.i also feed them crickets and other feeder insects.never feed spinach!these will kill your beardie.also put some rocks and large driftwood for them to climb on.for lighting, use a heat lamp with a uvb light also. for heating use an undertank heating pad.if you live somewhere warm, you wont need the heat pad.the 20 gallon tank will hold up to 3 baby beardies, or 2 medium sized beardies.if you live near somwhere where they have reptile shows, you can get all the supplies and your beardie there.

Read a good care sheet first. There are many available online. They eat crickets, greens and certain veggies, they need at least a 40 gallon tank with a bulb for basking and a UV light that runs the length of the tank.

The mice thing said above isnt true...crickets are a great staple protein source.
