I think that corns and balls get the most attention. Every pet store you go in has balls and corns. Fact is, there are tons of great starter snakes: kings, milks, rosy boas, house snakes, childrens and spotted pythons, and countless others. People don't ask about them simply because they don't know what they are. I did the same thing when I got into the hobby, and I bought columbian boas, ball pythons, and corns. Now that I know what's out there, I have 30 snakes, no ball pythons, no columbians, but I do have 3 corns in my collection. It is up to us to spread the word on all the other great snakes out there!

while both milk snakes and kingsnakes are great snakes(i have 2 milk and 1 king) when they are young(most pet stores sell young ones) they can be very problemed eaters. i have worked for Aligator Alley for a year now, and i have lost count of how many kings we have had that wouldn't eat, we have also had a big problem with milks.
