Walking towards our house , going down the steps and nearly died, there was a snake not a large snake just what they call an red-lipped herald in SA it was busy swallowing a [bloukop] a large lizard with a blue head that when it gets annoyed it smacks its face on the ground to try and scare whatever is scaring it,anyway it had swallowed halve of the body and the two legs and tail was still hanging out of its mouth. I ran inside got my camera took a hell of a lot of photo's , in the meantime this snake moved into the bushes, so i went inside just to discover no film in the camera. I felt like crying. Thank goodness for digital camera's now.:))

I have heard many different opinions on this. I have a plain heat lamp on one end of my cage for my gecko and Ieave it on 24/7. He has a "cave" he can hide underneath if he wants darkness.
I am thinking of getting an under the tank heater because the light being on at night affects my sleep. Do I need to just use that and not the light? I've heard they need UV rays on them sometimes. Should I just alternate and use the heating pad only at night?

I have read in -credible- books and articles that iguanas are herbivores, but when I placed a small quail chick infront of her, she (my iguana) didn't even bob her head at it she sneaked up to it and viciously snapped at it and swallowed the quail chick whole. I tried to pull it out, but I didn't want to harm my iguana. She did this on her own! And I had a good mix of collards, veggies and fruits next to her. And yes it's been months since that incident, and she's healthy. Explain?

These spots started small and are now getting larger. I have 2 red-earred sliders. One is just smaller than a quarter and the other is about 2 inches in diameter. I have a 30 gallon tank, half full and I have a water filter that acts as a waterfall. Any suggestions?

I have an Eastern Box Turtle that is VERY active and seems extremely healthy, although he eats little and rarely deficates. I've had him for about 15 years now and he has never been a big eater, other than iceberg lettuce, which I try not to give him. When I sprinkle calcium on his food, he refuses to touch it or eats around that. When I give him food pellets or expensive canned turtle food from the pet store, he screws me over and avoids it. Sad to say, he seems to only like people food. In order to get him to eat SOMETHING, I sometimes give him stuff off of my plate, spaghetti and meatballs, cheesecake, etc. I know this is bad, but I've tried all the food varieties, fruit, live/dead worms and such. His environment is fine, lots of water, heat, UV light, size is fine etc and he seems very happy. He sprints from one end of his box to the other to greet me when I enter the room and is very comfortable around people. What should i do?
