When was the last time he ate? If it was over a week ago, start offering more often to see if that changes his behavior. My red tail will eat every 3 days if I let him. and both of my snakes get bitchy when they are all of a sudden hungry and i'm not feeding quickly enough. Try that, and see if that works. Also, are you feeding in the tank or in a seperate place? If feeding in the tank, stop immediately!! Feed in a bin or somewhere else. This will help the snake to calm down in the tank. Then he won't think that everything coming into his tank is food.

If he's biting that bad maybe he just don't like people. Avoid contact with him, just feed and water for a while and see if the seclusion and lack of attention will calm him down.

Is he used to being fed live food? if this is the case, snakes tend to strike their owner because they see anything as moving as food. perhaps changing his diet and handling him whilst wearing a glove will help. He will learn that biting is getting him no-where and give in. Good luck!
