In the tank:
1 pleco
2 dwarf gouramis
1 angelfish
1 freshwater puffer (now infected)
1 peacock eel
2 mollies (1 is now infected)

I have lost 3 fish in the past to a white fungus that looks like cotton balls, and now more of my fish are infected. Last time this happened I bought fugus treatment for the tank that my friend at the pet store reccommended. It didnt seem to work last time, and when the fish died, I sterilized the tank then set it up again. Last night I lost one of my peacock eels (overnight he had got the fungus) and now 2 other fish are infected. I have treated the tank (again).

What should I do? any ideas?
anyone have the same problem???

How do i know if my floating glass thermometer is accurate? I used to have one in my tank but now i have a second one and there is a 3 or 4 degree difference between the two.. one thing i noticed is that when I tried moving them around different environments and one changes temp quicker than the other..

Also, do these things stay accurate over the years or not?

I have just returned from the fish store about an hour ago. when i was there i got an oscar, a green terror, salt and a plant (i forget the the name now). when i got home, i put the plant in and 2 spoonfuls of salt. i have a filter running so i put the salt in where the water falls in, assuming that would cycle it better.

20 minutes later, after the fish had been in there bags adjusting temperature, i put them into the tank. the oscar immediately went down to about the bottom of the tank but the green terror swam around for about 5-10 minutes and then hid behind the plant. i tried feeding them and they just ignored the food until some got hit by the current from the filter, at which point the oscar swam for it.

right now, they are both on the bottom, vertical at least. the water's temp is 78-79F. i've had the tank running for about 2 days to cycle all the water through the filter. i added de-chlorinater when i added the water in the beginning.
thanks
phill.

I have my betta for a year now and just recently I have been having troubles keeping his water about 74For higher. He is in a 1 gallon tank with a hood light, filter and submersible heater for a 2 gallon tank.
I thought it was the heater so I bought a new one and the water still isn't getting warm the water temp remains 71-73F. PLEASE HELP! I never had this problem last year in the winter? What can I do to get the water around normal with out spending a whole lot of money?

P.S I will not put him in a tank larger than 2 gallons because seriously he is a fish he doesn't need a huge 5 gallon tank. At least he is not in a little dinky fish bowl.

I have a 55 gal tank that i bought and now has a small leak. i am trying to avoid buying a new tank and replacing my hardwood floors which have been ruined by this stupid thing. so, my question would be: How do you reseal an aquarium with silicone? how long does it take to dry? and how do i be sure this won't happen again?

I have two green spotted puffers that are usually pretty calm but i notice that after i feed them, one of them seems to go up and down against the glass for quite some time. It's always the same one that does it usually after feedings.

The other and smaller of the two usually spends his time on the other side of the tank, somewhere in the middle or towards the top floating with it's head down and it's tail up so it's at an angle and usually it's head is against the glass but not always..

Also, I have seen both fish (not at the same time) at the bottom of the tank with their tails curled in so the fish sort of resembles the number 9. I'm not sure what this is an indication of..

Additional info: I cycled my tank with these fish, No2, No3 and ammonia levels are all stable now stable...
