In the past, I have bought angels from Petsmart and Petworld, which haven't worked out well because with in a few days they died. (We even turned the water EXACTLY how angelfish like it and they still died.) and I had a koi, a half black, and a white angel and they were gorgeous! (I only see the striped and marbles now.) Where is a good place to buy angels that actually LIVE? I have a 30 gallon tank that is filling with mollies (that I have to get rid of because there are so many babies) and I want some angels in there after they die.

There are these little white bugs in my 2 gallon betta tank. He's by himself and the bugs are very small and somtimes rest on the top of the water. Other times they are on the tank glass or on my betta. I don't think they are hurting betta, but i'd just like to know what they are, any clue?

The label says that it softens water.....
I am setting up a new aquarium - to put my Betta in - he is used to dechlorinated tap water....which is on the hard side.

Its not going to shock my fish is it?

Tank is 75 Gal. i need to use hard water (on tap) and stabilize it with API Tap Water Conditioner and when i do it causes PH swings and freaks my fishy friends out. i need stability without too many chemicals at a low/average PH level.

just bought a long-finned zebra danio today. I put it in my tank and the danio was cheking it out. I leave for a few minutes and when I come back, the danio is chasing the long finned. I don't see any white bumps on the gills, but I can't tell if this is aggressiveness. I've looked on the internet but nothing is helpful. I've seperated them. I don't have access to any more danios, so I cant get more in my tank. O ya, the danio is also seems to target the long fin's back fin. And a few days ago 2 of my guppies died due to direct sun. Could seeing his friends die influence this behavior? Is it ok to put them together again? Will they kill each other? Are they mating?

My husband brought home a small perch after a fishing trip in May. "Gill" has been happily living (alone) in our 55g since then. Today, we noticed black spots on his fins, so I looked up his symptoms on fishyfarmacy.com. This is what I read:

"Black or brown nodules appear on and between the fin rays and at their bases........

.......If the fish were captured in the wild, they could have encapsulated worm larvae (metacercariae)......

......Treat with De-Los"

I tried looking for the active ingredient listed for De-Los, but there was none.

Is this the right diagnosis to begin with, and if so, what medication should I use? Something for external parasites/worms?

My brown gourami began having red spots on its fin. At first it was one spot and we just dismissed it. Now, it's been a few months later and he has some more spots. He eats fine and swims fine, too.

In the aquarium, we have 2 tiger barbs, another gourami, and 3 bottom feeders. We know that barbs are known as "aggresive" fish but they have been in that aquarium for two years now and we have never observed them fighting and none of our fish have ever displayed signs of being attacked (fins, scales always in place).

We have a filter constantly running and good aeration. We do partial water changes with all the proper chemicals. And that aquarium has never had a problem with sick fish (i.e none of our fish have ever had ick or any other disease).

We've had that gourami for a few years now and it's always been fine. So I'm really at loss to what those red spots are, or even how he's gotten them.

I have 2 fancy goldfish and 1 common goldfish in a 10 gallon tank. So, 3 days ago I put my female betta(Wanda) in the same tank. She was fine with the goldfish...but she didnt come to the top to eat. She got her color back and began swimming around. I normally have both bettas in a larger typical round goldfish bowl. Wanda never moved and was pale in that tank. Today I put my subbmissive male Sushi in with them to perk him up. But Wanda chased him and the smallest goldfish Bronco bit his tail. He was terrified so I took him out. But...while he was in the tank Wanda was being aggressive to Bronco too. So I took her out. Now both bettas are sitting on the bottom of the tank, not moving....as always before. What should I do???????

Does anyone recycle their aquarium water and reuse it for the aquarium. If so, what method do you use? I vacuum the gravel and feel it is such a waste to dump out all that water when all the muck settles on the bottom of the container.
