OK so - this is obviously a hypothetical question, but what would win in a fight:

Puffer Fish vs. Axolotl

(for those of you who don't know, Axolotl are amphibious creatures that grow up to just over 1ft long).

My live plants look like something is eating holes in them! It’s almost like as if some kind of bug was eating on them. Does anyone know what this could be caused from?

Will they get along? I'm thinking of getting 2/3, should I get all females? Or 2 females and 1 male? Will they breed? I don't want babies, but I don't want fights between 3 males!

My fish looks very distressed as it is darting around continuously his breathing seems to be quite rapid too . Do you think it is nitrite levels being too high?? i did feed him blood worms yesterday and i was thinking maybe there is some still in the tank decaying and causing a problem... what do you think. The neon tetras in with him are acting fine ! I dont understand :S

One of my chiclids has gotten extremely round in the past week. She is eating fine, and looks normal, other than the fact that she looks very bloated. However, I have noticed that she has not been swimming around as much, and spends most of her time hiding in the back of the tank. How long do chiclid pregnancies last? How can I tell if she is pregnant or sick? I have tried to compare her to pictures of pregnant fish, but it hasn't really helped. If she would have babies, is there anything special I need to do, or should I just leave them alone and see what happens?

I'll try to add a picture tomorrow, my camera needs to be charged first!

Does mopani wood, like drift wood, leach tenins into the water and discolor it? If so how bad? Does it also lower your pH? How much. Would you recommend mopani wood, drift wood, or neither, or something else. Let me know. What is the difference between the two. I hear mopani wood doesn't rot like driftwood. I'm looking for people with experience, I've already googled everything I could find. Thanks again Y!A!

*One more thing while your here. Know of any snails that don't reproduce like crazy in your tank? Haha!

I am familiar with Cabomba, but i don't know of any other aquarium plants that can maximize the space in a freshwater tank that is 5 feet deep (also very wide). Haven't decided yet on exactly which fish, but i want to include Silver Dollars. Are there any plants unsafe for them to eat? Do THEY know that?

I have a 55 gallon fish tank, with a dual bio-wheel filter, i stock the media tray with activated charcoal. My problem is that my Ph stays at 6.2. It never moves any other direction. I have one of those meters that watches the temp, ph, and amonia. The tank is about 6 months old. The fish dont seem to be bothered by the water ph. I know my water is def as hard as its gets. I keep good control of the amonia and nitrates and nitrites. I change my filter once a month. aswell as the Charcoal. I have some gouramis, platys, danios, 5 snails, a pleco and some small guppies. Should i worry about the ph or not. My mother in law said i maybe vacuum the gravel to much is that possible. I just like to keep the gravel debris and poop free as you guys all know. Some one please give me some advice. Yahoo answers has helped me keep my fish tank this good for this long. Thanks in advance and i hope everyone has a great holiday season.

Some fish can be kept in a wide range of pH, like the convict cichlid, usually 6.5- 7.5. My question is, what if your tank is 6.5, and you go to buy a convict at the store and that pH is 7.5, what do you do?

I have always has saltwater tanks and I changed it to a fresh water tank about 4 month ago. This morning I turned on the light ans see these Snails with long pionty shells all over the sides of the tank. I thought thay where kind of cute. LOL But 15 mins later they all disapeared. I only have 4 fish in a 55 gallon. 2 butterfly tetras (i think) and 2 cory cats. Where did these snails come from? and why do the disapear after the light is turned on. Serious answers only please!

I'm going on vacation for about a week and a half in december and was wondering if there was any way to provide food for him while i'm gone. Would tetras work or are there any other ways that have worked???

I've "Inherited" two Male Betas. I am new to my area, and going on vacation for almost two weeks for the holidays. My friend, original owner of the fish, say to throw some algae pellets in the fish bowls, and that they'll be fine. I don't know anyone I can leave the fish with. How can I ensure that they survive while I'm gone? Is there a product that will release food ever so often? Silly question, I know, but I want to make sure they'll be alright while I'm gone. Thanks in advance for your help!
