There is a great variance in size of jellyfish species, ranging from jellies that are almost invisible to the naked eye (some of the MOST lethal which are only centimeters wide and long) to huge, 7 foot wide, and more than 100 feet long. Keep in mind that Portuguese Man-of-Wars are NOT jellyfish, they are in fact large colonies of organisms that specialize in certain tasks (one cluster acts as the "sail" while others work as tentacles).

Jelly fish have a pretty large range in size.
The smallest is the Irukandji which is an extremely deadly jelly native to Australian waters and is undetectable in the water. From its bell to the tip of the tentacles is only 2.5 cm long.
The largest is the lions mane, which can have a bell 2 meters across and tentacles over 10 meters in length!
Most jelly fish are on the smaller end of this scale, usually the size of a fist up to a few feet in length.

From smaller than a thimble to bigger than a pup-tent with stinging tentacles 35' long. Any specific type in mind? I'm sure that there are jellies that are nearly microscopic. Thimble Jellies are about 1/2" in diameter and kind of an attractive rusty orange color.

I live in Gulf shores Alabama and if you don't know where that is it's the beach. I see jellyfish all the time unfortunately(I say unfortunately b/c if you get in the red kind and they sting...the little boogers) but they kinda range around here. The smallest I have see have been about 2inches in diameter but, then I have seen some so big they will make you wanna pee in your pants!! No seriously the biggest I have seen have been about about 1 1/2 to 2 feet in diameter. So it just might depend on where you are at!

It depends on the species of jellyfish. Some can be as small as a grape or as big as a bed. Fully grown box jellyfish can grow up to 4m long, and fully grown umbrella jellyfish only grow up to 1" long. Tentacles can range anywhere from 1cm-120ft.

Chrysaora quinquecirrha - “stinging nettle”
Semi-transparent bell typically with small white dots and reddish-brown stripes radiating from center of bell; in individuals without stripes, bell may appear more white or opaque. Long tentacles extend from bell margin and oral arms extend from underneath bell. Bell size: 1 to 12 inches in diameter. Painful sting.
