I'm going on vacation for about a week and a half in december and was wondering if there was any way to provide food for him while i'm gone. Would tetras work or are there any other ways that have worked???

It all depends on how big your Black ghost Knife is and what you feed it regularly. The automatic feeders are not a good way to go for any Knife fish. Most eat live food. If you regularly feed yours live fish, then I would suggest feeder guppies or some other small fish. However if you feed frozen food, such as: brine shrimp, or blood worms. Then the best thing is to try to get someone you know to feed it while you are gone. I have never seen a Ghost Knife eat flake or feed on a vacation block. I would need more info in order to be of more help, sorry. But I hope the info I did provide is of some help to you.
Good Luck.

There are automatic fish feeders out on the market.
And you could also get the feeders that last a week or longer that you can either attach to the side of the tank, or let them drop to the bottom of the tank.

Clean water is much more important than food. Don't worry about starving your pet, that takes months. Polluted water will damage your pet in a matter of days.
