How can I tell if my chiclid is pregnant or sick?

One of my chiclids has gotten extremely round in the past week. She is eating fine, and looks normal, other than the fact that she looks very bloated. However, I have noticed that she has not been swimming around as much, and spends most of her time hiding in the back of the tank. How long do chiclid pregnancies last? How can I tell if she is pregnant or sick? I have tried to compare her to pictures of pregnant fish, but it hasn't really helped. If she would have babies, is there anything special I need to do, or should I just leave them alone and see what happens?

First, Cichlids are egg layers, meaning that they do not get pregnant, they can be "egg laden" though. The two most common ailments involving bloating would be dropsy and constipation. If your fish is still eating well, it doesn't sound like either of those issues are the case. If she is carrying eggs, she will have a rounded stomach (not bulgy though) and possibly show more color depending on the species of Cichlid.
