My live plants look like something is eating holes in them! It’s almost like as if some kind of bug was eating on them. Does anyone know what this could be caused from?

My plants are probably 2-4 weeks old. I bought them from a local pet store and I do think that it is likely that they could have already been infected when I got them. How do you treat plants for these kinds of infections?

Ooooppsss. I forgot to mention that I do have a Pleco. It does seem to feed on them, but it's hard for me to tell if it's eating on them or just cleaning something off of them.

Dunno. Are they new plants? Maybe they've brought a parasite with them. Alternatively, are your fish eating them. We have koi in an outside pond and they scoffed all my water plants including some lovely water lillies. Every time I introduced a suitably disinfected bit of greenery into the pond, they ate it.

Yes they can get infections and what not. As well as fish picking on them causing damage. More then likly your fish is just trying to clean algae off of them which is good. But if you notice alot of odd spots that do not seem to be algae then remove those parts of the plant if you can. Also you might see odd bumps or leave might seem to fold up around something. These are bugs making nests and should be removed as well. Its best to remove the hole leave so long as the plant has enough others to support itself.

There are many things that can put holes in plants and impossible to kill them all. Lots of light and food and CO2 will help them thrive. Trim off dead leaves. Plants take a lot of work.
