If you keep them in a nice sized group, you could have 15+ Neons (assuming you have other fish), 5-7 Dwarf Chain Loaches, 5 Cory Cats, 15 Danios (as long as they are NOT Giant Danios), 11 Oto Catfish, or 5 Glass Catfish (which require VERY exact, stable water)... Contact me for any questions about mixing these fish regarding numbers...

Soop Nazi

EDIT: Neither Bettas nor Guppies will shoal...

EDIT 2: Danios are NOT Tetras. They aren't even in the same family... Tetras are Characins and Danios are Cyprinids.

what length tank do you have? what share Neons do you have? what share different fish are on your tank? what's your tank adorned with? Neon Tetras could desire to be incredibly lively and exciting to video show. in the event that they do no longer look to be, it may desire to be for a type or reasons. Is the water high quality good? Is the temp good? Is there sufficient decorations to cause them to experience risk-free and fascinated? Do you have a minimum of 6 of them? Tetras will show extra lively and exciting education behaviors if all the above situations are met. If that still does not help, attempt including a much better fish which will scare your tetras into the right habit. The additions of a fish like some Gouramis (no longer too aggressive nevertheless), Rams, Kribensis, Discus, Apistogramma... they gained't be overly harsh on your neons yet by using being extra beneficial lurking fish they're going to set off an lively education intuition in them.

The more the better! I presume you have nothing else in there? I have 7 tetras currently and they shoal well, but with your tank I'd get at least 20. If you're looking to have only neons (or other tetras) in there, I'd say get 25 neons.

That would look really nice in your tank.

Yes, Neon and cardinal tetras shoal well when you have 30 or more of them together, I personally like danios which are also tetras... most of the smaller tetras will shoal if you have enough of them and enough room for them to...with a 30 gal. tank I think the smaller neons or cardinals would work best for you, and they are beautiful fish to see shoaling! good luck, Matt

15 female bettas
20 guppys
25 neon tetras (or other tetras, such as black neon tetras)
25 danios (such as leopard, zebra, pearl)

Clown loaches are ok for a while but get big

You could get away with a few more fish than i have said but these are just a rough guide based on my opinion lol
